AM 2.6.2. Bug Audio report (Audio in HDMI)
« on: March 05, 2022, 08:11:45 AM »
Hello everyone, also in the new version of AM 2.6.2. I'm having the same error as always, I tried to look for solutions some time ago but without success, in practice I lose the audio when the sound device is via HDMI of my monitor, here a demonstration video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvYQn5ZJVuU&list=PLsYbxf4nYJ_ZcDmT8ZCpp3iS7NvFWJU0R&index=14

I am just re reading this again, so let me check something here

1) You had the same issues with 2,6.1 as an example
2) You are having the same issue with 2.6.2

I would check your hardware and emulation software, change your HDMI cable.

Your back button might be programmed as a mute button as a rough example
Your HDMI cable, sound card might cut the sound because it is not resetting properly

It works great, fantastic for me with no issues.

Regards

Mark

Hello same problem both in version 2.6.1. than in version 2.6.2. I did all the cross tests, I tried on different devices such as minipc with integrated video card and both with nvdia and amd, I have with HDMI cables but without success, but this bug has been reported for years... if you browse the forum you will find many arguments I launched on this problem, among other things I found users with my same error that like me they were not able to solve, the only way to solve is to connect an external audio device such as speakers, headphones, etc

also if I quit the game with the button or any other key on the keyboard, I don't solve it

Is it on all emulators or just one?

What is the game you were playing
What emulator?

As I say I have no problems my end using the back button, so it is not a common issue

on some emulators and some native windows games, from what I understand this bug comes out when they are at a lower resolution, if I put the same game in full HD I don't get errors on exit

Well that does not help anyone, to help you

I have tried some emulators and they work perfectly for me
I have tried some native windows games and they work perfectly for me

You need to say

SNES emulator using the retro arch core snesneedmoredetail playing sonic mario hack rom.

It is like you going into your doctor, and saying I have a pain, and when the doctor says where, some over here, some over there and not pointing at where.

Regards

Mark with the some emulators, and some games

try with the sega model 2 and 3, tetetris effect (win in 1280x720) starting from a desktop resolution in 1920x1080, exclude external audio devices and see that you will notice the bug as well as from the videos I show, also I would not be repetitive but doing a searching on the net seems like a common problem

Ok, I shall try those, but being honest that is not a resolution that I would use but I shall give it a try for you and see what I find.

I can't do it tonight, but hopefully I can have a try tomorrow.

I am on 3840 x 2160 so 4K I am just downloading some stuff now that relates to what you want checked, so hopefully it will have what I need.

So getting this straight your desktop is 1920 x 1080
You then launch a game at a resolution of 1280 x 720

I am not sure why you are doing this for, but I shall try to recreate it. I do not have a lot set up on my system currently, as I spent the last two weeks transferring files and building a new PC, so my progress has stalled a bit. I still need another 18 TB and then I am good to go even though I don't think that even that is enough, so will be another computer after that just for PC stuff.

I just filled up an 8 TB drive just with PS1 and PS2 stuff, but I am around 1,000 odd games short of the full PS2 collection from what I noticed.

Any how I am waffling now, only my first coffee

I don't know if it will help your issue but have you tried the ResFix plugin?

Also, what OS are you using and have you checked to make sure that HDMI is always the only option for sound within the OS?

i confirm, i get error when i'm at 1920x1080 on desktop and try model 2, model 3 products at lower resolution.  in the case of pc games for example, in the case of tetris effect if I raise the resolution to 1080 I get the error if I go down in resolution (my minipc doesn't hold it in FHD) at 1280x720 I get an audio error

As Progets has suggested try the ResFix plugin, he is more of the expert than I am.

I am just messing around with the Sega Model 2 now but you have not said what emulator you are using for it.

I have this emulator http://nebula.emulatronia.com/ which is the model 2 emulator

I just looked on RetroArch and I can not see a core for Model 2, I know that this is based on the Sega Saturn, so I am not sure if that core would work on it or not.

However, I shall have a look at setting it up now and let you know my findings.

You also say that you are using a miniPC, I take it that is prebuilt like a NUC type of thing. I have not used one of them, I cannot even get 1280 x 720 on the model 2 emulator.

On the model 2 emulator you have the following

640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1280 x 1024

I still have to set it up but I am adding more as I think of stuff

Ok, I now have Sega Model 2 set up and working however I have a different problem than you do.

Firstly, I set up an exit key which was E, I also changed that to backspace (just to try trouble shooting)

However, I still get audio after exiting, but no visuals it just goes to a black screen.

I am using Windows 10 and the proper emulator for that system, I think I posted the link in this section.

However, I just tried MAME and I exited out of that system and went back and had audio and visual.

Which by my powers of deduction it is something to do with the emulator used and not AM.

If I ALT & TAB to switch windows, I can see the visuals running but when I go back to the system it just goes black.

Just to add I enabled the ResFix set it to Sega Model 2 (Arcade) which I have called the emulator. I done a shut down and reopened, but that has not fixed the issue.

* Also I changed the settings in the emulator configurations settings to match your 1280 x 780

Well that is weird as hell. As I was typing that * I lowered my resolution to 1280 x 780. I still never had any audio loss, but what I typed earlier about it going to a black screen that never happened when I was at 1280 x 780 desktop resolution, it went right back to the visuals and audio. I am guessing that it does not like 4K resolution, I will try it at 1920 x 1080 and then edit this.

Ok I just done a test on 1920 x 1080 and when I press exit it shows the video and audio works as well. However, when I set it at 3840 x 2160 it is just a black screen.

So it is 50/50 on who is to blame now. However, my audio was still working as I say so it is something to do with your mini PC and not AM or the emulator.

Regards

Mark
