Title: Setting up Windows Games
Post by: WP34 on March 24, 2015, 07:22:38 PM
Is there a tutorial for setting up Windows games?  I can't seem to figure it out.  I assumed I had to put the path for each game in my "rom list" file.

easiest way with windows-shortcuts (.lnk-files) :
1) create a folder called links or something like that
2) create shortcuts from your exe-files (right mouse button > send to > desktop
3) move the created shortcuts (.lnk-files) to created links folder
4) start attract and configure emulator : windows_games
5) configure the rompath to your link-folder (e.g. C:\attract\emulator\windows_games\links)
6) create rom list

That makes sense and I'll give it a try tonight.  I was trying to put the full path to my EXE's in the rom file manually.

Thanks!

That worked like a charm.  Thank you so much!

Using this method works but I can not get the exit hot key to work even though it is in the emulator settings in AM. I saw that you used a program called autoit or something but is there a way to make the exit hot key work without using that program?

@xev1n:
Start AM > Press TAB > Emulators > Your_emulator_system > at 'Exit Hotkey' set a hotkey

If AM isn't still able closing your emulator-system, you can use autoit (I use autoit for software distribution at workplace ; so it's easy for me generating scripts ^-^ ). Here is a tutorial (http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=365.0) with example

How about to launch steam? Here's my idea:

-Add shortcuts for non-steam games (for those that were not purchased in steam...)
-Launch steam in Big Picture Mode (like in steamlink) as DEFAULT
-Map controllers
-Play game
-Exit game
-Exit steam ----> Goes back to AM.

Is this possible? I am having trouble getting it to work.
