Title: IntroVid plugin
Post by: liquid8d on June 13, 2015, 12:08:00 PM
Just so anyone looking for scripts will find it here:

I just whipped up this plugin (attached) - hopefully there are no issues, but might require some updates if you find any.

Copy the IntroVid.nut into your plugins/ folder.
Launch AM, hit TAB (Settings), Plugins, IntroVid
 Set Enable to Yes
Set Filename to the filename of the video (if you don't put a path, it will be looking in your current layout folder
Set Audio to No if you don't want it to play the Intro audio

The next time you start AM, it should play the intro. If you press any key, it will skip it.

It is also on my GitHub, where I will do any updates:

I've updated the intro thread with download links.
I've also added 4:3 version.

Awesome!

Only issue I'm noticing now is if you have videos (w/ audio on) playing in the layout you can still hear them. I tried initially to play from the transition and return true so I could prevent the layout from running until the intro was done or skipped but it didn't work for me. I'll keep playing around with it.

I'm a noob to this whole thing. I know most of it but somethings I'm have trouble with. I have the introvid.nut plugins but when I set the path to my video nothing plays. Even tho I have the path correct still nothing. Dose it matter what the format of the file is like mp4 or avi?

I assume you have the plugin enabled? Do you have the full path to the video file in the plugin settings?

Can you run AM in window mode and see the output which should show any errors?

Also FYI - if you compile the current build - there is a builtin option for intro in the settings menu - no need for the plugin :)

Make any headway on this? Just curious

Hello:

Has the "Intro Video" option/script been integrated into Attract Mode? If it has already been integrated what release is it in or will be in without the need to self-compile? If it has not been integrated fully will it?

Also with that being said is there a downloadable video prepared and will that also be integrated into Attract Mode as a default video option? If the issue becomes that adding a video to the main installation file creates too large of a file will a "downloadable content" section be created to help keep all working and vetted downloadable content organized? Or is this something already created that I am just not seeing?

Thanks for all your hard work on this project. because of this I am back into working on my arcade cabinet which has been collecting dust for over 2 years.

Thank you,
BC

Sorry I haven't gotten to work this out, but it is correct there is now an Intro video option in 1.6 (maybe some of the 1.5.x builds) - I haven't tested to see how it deals with audio though. Perhaps I can play around with that this weekend and see if there is still a need for this plugin.

If you have tested, please let me know what you think!

I'll leave the other questions to those in the know :)
