Looking for specific theme if available
« on: December 03, 2019, 03:26:41 AM »
Hi

I am just new here - first time Attract Mode user, and hope that someone is able to help me find the following theme type, if available (provide a link), OR similar so that I can modify it. The theme is based on an old FE called ArcadeOS but modernised:

Basically the theme that I am after does the basic following:

1. Supports game wheel art scrolling - Preferred on the side of the screen.
2. Full screen video game footage when selecting the wheel art.
3. The above theme launches into a favorite games list.

I am not sure it Attract Mode or the Theme supports the following - Advice would be appreciated:

1. Create one favorite games list that supports a mix of mame and supermodel games.

Thank you in advance for any support.

Regards
D

Hi doosh! I personally use Arcadeflow (from zpaolo11x) and Ambience HD (from Oomek), I recommend them as they are very complete and beautiful. Other themes that are also very good are those developed by Onyx Arcade, such as Nevato and Flat Blue. You would have to check them to see which ones best fit your needs.

Arcadeflow: http://www.mixandmatch.it/AF/#60

Ambience HD: https://github.com/oomek/ambience-hd

Onyx Arcade: http://www.onyxarcade.com/

PD: If you search the topics forum, there are more than other authors who are also very good.

I am confused because what you described is not like arcadeos. The frontend called advmenu is very similar to arcadeos.

Hi Aaron32

Thank you for the information / links. The themes look very good, but unfortunately, I am after something that meets my theme requirements.

I might have to attempt to create the theme if one does not exist (or something like it).

Thank you again.

Regards

D

Hi keilmillerjr

Thank you for your reply.

I have not used ArcadeOS for over 20+ years, but if I recall correctly the basic feel of the FE had a games list in the middle of the screen that you can scroll up and down to select the game, and every time you scrolled through the list, the full screen background snap of the game would be displayed.

In my case, I am after a modernised version of the theme, whereby you use:

1. Wheel art to replace the games list.
2. Full screen video to replace the snap.

In general, it is a very basic theme that I seek.

Question - is there a tutorial on how to create attract mode themes?

Thank you.

D

There is a program called "AMBuilder" that facilitates this task unless you know how to program. I have not tried it, but I leave the link for you to look at: http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1729.0

You can also look at this part of the forum in which Scripts are discussed. You can check here to start creating your own theme: http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?board=2.0
