index files created from history.dat

What determines which history.idx file is checked? I was wondering if a non-mess emulator could access that idx to display the history information.

I highly doubt it. You can open the dat file in a plain text editor and read it that way if you want. (It needs to be opened on a real computer though! and make a copy of the dat first!) I have a "custom" one some where...(ex. pacman displays puckman info instead of "see puckman for more information.)..never finished it though.

There are entries in there for consoles they just are placeholders for now I guess.
