General / Strange issue with wheel controller
« on: February 20, 2022, 12:47:53 PM »
Hey guys, got another strange one. Did search around a bit but wasn't able to find anything.

When AM is used as the front-end to load wheel supported games, the wheel loses some of its default behavior like spring (re-centering) and turn resistance.

If load the games straight via its emulator the spring and resistance remain. So it's like AM is interfering with the behavior.

Any way to adjust this?

EDIT: Looks like I can set a global re-center value instead of the default "by game" setting, not ideal but should help for now. Still wondering if there's any way for AM not to take over the wheel behavior.

Thanks as always.

General / Flickering oddity
« on: February 20, 2022, 07:31:42 AM »
Hey all, just set up AM 2.6.2 on two completely identical machines. And by that I mean they literally have the same hardware and software, same games, everything setup the same way, even the same model TV and controllers attached.

They both turn on and launch into AM completely fine, AM operates fine, can launch games totally fine. The issue comes when I exit a game on one of the machines. One machine will exit successfully, the other will get back to AM but the screen will start flickering like mad. I can still control AM and launch games, but the flickering in AM never stops.

Doesn't matter which game I launch, one always succeeds and one always goes into the mad flickering/blinking.

Went over everything I could think of last night and just could not solve, attempted AM from scratch several times, just can't figure it out.

Any ideas? Thank you!

General / nb_mode_wait and windows_games trouble
« on: February 18, 2020, 06:15:14 PM »
Hello all!

I've almost got my windows_games working nicely but it seems when I fix one, I break another.

At first, I was not using the "nb_mode_wait" option and most of my games would launch correctly. But then I ran into Street Fighter V, and it seemed to launch a quick window, then would launch the game, and AM would resume focus after the first quick window disappeared.

After setting "nb_mode_wait" to "10", all of my games were loading correctly again with the delay. All except for one. Soul Calibur VI was working without "nb_mode_wait", but now that I've set it to 10 to fix Street Fighter V, now SCVI is acting bizarre.

SCVI will load a little window for quite awhile but AM will always instantly re-grab focus and therefore the game will not control properly (controlling in-game is actually simultaneously controlling AM).

I think when I was searching on much older solutions for windows_games like this, someone mentioned setting up a .bat file to launch the game or something... maybe that is an option?

Anyone run into this? Thank you!

General / Artwork / Scrape for windows_games?
« on: February 14, 2020, 06:59:58 AM »
Hey all,

Got my MAME setup going near perfect but now I'm trying to add a few Windows games.

I followed the suggestion to create shortcuts to my games and place all shortcuts in a folder. Then have AM build a list from the shortcuts folder.

For fun I tried an artwork scrape which ended up with nothing.

I suppose I can manually add some artwork but I don't fully understand how to do that.

Has anyone here setup windows_games artwork either via the scraper or manually that can share some info?

Thank you!

Quick edit: I did search many times and did read the most relevant setup and artwork topics but did not find much specifically for windows_games.
