(R) Script that can read txt files
« on: March 15, 2016, 03:49:34 AM »
Well after I ve found out that the current history.dat helps only for arcade games to have synopsis/description, I was thinkg if it could be possible to make a script that can look into, for example  , .../scraper/nestopia/[text files folder] and find the right text file for the selected game when pressing a button and display it, just like the text is displayed from history.dat .

How much text can be in the field [EXTRA] from the romlist? How difficult would it be to just add a field to the romlist?

I like the idea of pressing a button to bring the info up and fit it in a small area and also being able to scroll the text.

Agreed. Would that not be possible with a field in the rom list?

That I do not know ... probably the whole text have to be on a single line in the romlist file ... I m not familiar with the squirrel language ... that's why I asked for a script like that
If I knew how to do it I would have done it myself.

I don't either, but am learning...it's all about how we choose to spend the limited amount of time we have...

When I get stuck I either move on to another project, and return fresh...or never return...

AMbiguous ... I know it is a harsh word to describe this frontend resources but that is the impression.
Has its own menu to set up but in very big contrast it is even harder to customize and make use of its all capabilities (like main menu...). AM has great great potential, but ...

I would categorize this as being the Debian forums of Linux distros.
