Asking an opinion on controller setups
« on: November 04, 2019, 06:16:34 AM »
I have successfully set up my 2 joystick configs, I have also installed 4 gamecube controller slots on the front of my arcade machine. I was considering adding in PS2 controller ports for future emulation that a gamecube controller really doesn't work great for. This is most likely going to start out just being for a PS2 library.

My question is, should I simply just install 2 ports or go ahead install 4
Arcade Machine 1:
AMD 8350 black 4ghz 8 Cores
20 gigs of DDR 3 Ram
500 gb SSD
4 tb Storage drive

There are a lot of multitap games for ps2.

-But there are another videogame systems.
so you have to add seperate panel, each video game system ^-^

-Maybe it's more suitable if you add USB port panel and use PS2-controller-to-USB-adapter or USB replica or PS3 Controller.

-Maybe you install 2 ports and expand, if necessary for player 3 and 4 via USB.

I'm using XBox S Controller from Xbox Classic (2001) for all my Systems via USB.

Thank you, I Will keep that in mind. I may end up installing all 4 ports just for future system possibilities. I may end up installing small LED lights above each of the controller slots and lighting them up for whats needed. I use LED Wiz and should be easy enough to set up. I take my arcade machine to a few locale conventions so I try to avoid letting people have easy access to USB slots on the machine, I am afraid of someone damaging the machine through the USB.

keep in mind, thats possible to build an memorycard-usb-stick-adaptor (example : use an standard usb stick on xbox classic).

A long time ago :
In my company we have used a computer on a trade fair too, on which only certain devices should work.
We have used a software called USB Waechter/USB Guardian.
But it's not longer available for Windows 10.
You have connected all desired devices (usb-sticks, keyboard, mouse and so on) > created a whitelist > afterhend all other usb devices are blocked > you can add devices to whitelist

LED sounds great.

Hmm didn't even think of using some type of USB white list software, I will look into that. That is really really good idea and appreciate the input greatly!
