I am having trouble understanding what is supposed to happen utilizing additional files like CATVER.INI when generating a mame rom list using attract mode.

I was under the impression filters or categories would be "auto-generated" somehow in the filters list, but am I wrong in this assumption? Can I use the additional ini files to automatically generate these filter options inside of attract mode? Or do I need to add the filters manually?

Also, I keep reading to add the "full path" to the file in the emulator config. Does that mean the actual file itself? Or just the path the file is in.
Example 1: import_extras        /home/pi/.attract/mame-config
Example 2: import_extras        /home/pi/.attract/mame-config/catver.ini

Thanks for any help in advance!

I'm sure you've wanted it to look really minimal, but maybe adding some light semi-translucent background under the text could spice it up a little.
I've also added a little shadow under that title bar.

This looks great. I much prefer the logos contained inside of the preview image.

This looks great, is it working on the Pi3?
I would love to test it.

This looks awesome!

Will this work with the PI or in verticle mode?

Was the Pi version ever released? I would love to use it!

if you're using english language file :
Code: [Select]
sudo nano /usr/local/share/attract/language/en.msg

add under '#Interface strings' this line:
Code: [Select]
Exit Attract-Mode?;Shut Down System

This worked, thank you very much.
I also noticed there was a pull request on github to add this as a feature:

close AM > download your romlist via WinSCP > Edit your Romlist > Upload your romlist via WinSCP > start AM

EDIT: Im a DUMBASS, I had a typeo in my roms file name. All is well now and working. :)

Thank you again.

This has been fixed in the newest version. Just recompile from source. Working fine now on my Pi.

Is there a quick way to edit a file with ssh or ftp to just add a single rom to an existing list? Or do I need to regenerate the list every time I want to add one.

For example, I added an entry in "/home/pi/.attract/romlists/Super Nintendo Entertainment System.txt"
I also added a wheel and snap art, but the entry is not being displayed.

Thanks again for all the help.

Is there a way to change the exit text on the Pi to say "Shut Down System" instead of "exit attract-mode?" I can not seem to find this file to edit it.

This file and folder does not exist on my Pi install. It's located at /usr/local/share/attract/language but it does not contain any similar lines to edit. do I need to create this file?

Thank you so much for this workaround. It is working great here.

Launch screen is now all clean. Also the GetErrorx500 thing is now gone as well! :)

Pi F.A.Q. #12

Thank you very much for that reference. This is working and solved the issues.
