Just curious what's the deal with the question mark on the bottom of Robospin theme ? Any way to clear that or what's the significance of it ?

17
So I'm trying to load a rom on my MAME Wheel which isn't a MAME game, I've done this successfully with other games before.

Within a sticky thread I found in attract mode it states:

I'm in that .05% where the game launches / loads from EMULATION STATION, & Command Line, but NOT in Attract Mode. It says to look for systems.cfg for errors.... I can't find SYSTEMS.CFG, Where is it located ?

In Emulation station I have /opt/retropie/configs/all/emualtionstation:
es_input.cfg
es_settings.cfg
es_temporaryinput.cfg

In attract mode I have /opt/retropie/configs/all/attractmode/
attract.cfg

Under Emulators I have /opt/retropie/configs/all/attractmode/emulators/
arcade.cfg
daphne.cfg
final burn alpha.cfg
neo geo.cfg
retropie.cfg
setup.cfg

Under /opt/retropie/configs/all/
autoconf.cfg
emulators.cfg
retroarch.cfg
runcommand.cfg

Nothing showing anything that says systems.cfg

18
Where exactly did you locate that file ? I think part of the reason is I don't know where it's located.

19
Still not resolved , any one else chime in ? Game loads from command line / emulation station and NOT Attract mode.

20
I saw an old thread from 2 years ago with looking to do the same thing. On exit of attract mode it will say" Exit Attract-Mode" etc... I wan't to change the text to say "Shut Down System" I can't seem to find C:\attract\language\en.msg ? I'm using this on a raspberry pi 3b+ , where can I edit that text  ???to  customize it to my liking ?

21
I was successful with adding Dragon's Lair from Daphne & incorporating it into my MAME wheel in attract mode, using the same method I simply modified the text within the romlist as I've done it this way for countless other titles which I was able to successfully edit the arcade.txt file. However It won't launch Fix It Felix.

Fix It Felix (megadrive / sega version NOT PC Version) again works / launches in EMULATION STATION, But not Attract Mode.

This is what my text / line of code looks like (I know the year and company are wrong):
fixitfelix;Fix It Felix;megadrive;;1991;Capcom;;2;;joy8way;good;0;;;;;2

If someone can give me a line of code for any Sega Genesis game I should in theory be able to adapt / fix it , right ? Can someone please help out, thanks !

Using Attract mode as a front end etc... I'm only focused / concerned with MAME As the emulator no other systems on this build. I can't use the TAB function in MAME to set an EXIT using ESC on my keyboard, it will allow me to map virtually everything else, with the exception of exiting the emulator.

I tried setting up a HOT KEY emulator exit on Attract Mode, It exits the game but yet leaves it running in the background I can still hear the sounds of the game which is a major issue as they just keep getting layered just running in the background.

The version of MAME i'm using which is MAME 2003 / libretro in conjunction with RetroArch.

I literally just want to hit ESC on my keyboard and have it exit a game in MAME & I can't even do that, any help with this ?

Also this is running on a Raspberry Pi 3b+

Please also note I can access my pi via WinSCP so If I need to modify a .cfg file or .sh etc please let me know exactly what file needs to be modified in order for ESC key press on my keyboard to exit MAME.

Themes / Re: Arcadeflow theme v 1.9 [Release] Updated 25 July 2018

So just an update on this when I used it on my rpi3b+ I got what I consider the WSOD aka White Screen Of Death. some of the fonts looked like lines weird things from a spaceship blocky weirdness nothing working etc /  nothing was showing no rom list / game list wasn't showing. No Snaps / Videos weren't showing.

As you probably know if you've read the rest of the thread, AF is not really suited for the Raspberry Pi, at least this was true for Attract Mode 2.3, don't know if 2.4 is better. I'd really like to be able to tweak my theme to work with the Pi but testing is not easy since I don't own a Pi myself.

Brand new Rpi3b+ is cheap ! They are about 50-60$ including a Power Supply / Heat sinks + depending on what size microSD memory card you go with. It's worth it just to tinker with one. I almost feel compelled to send you one so long as you can get this working on an rpi3b+ properly.

Arcadeflow 1.9 is out and is 2.4 compliant! Please test it and let me know :)

This looks pretty much exactly what I'd like to use in my RPI3B+ Curious to know if this updated version 1.9 will work with it ? How should the file structure be on the Rpi with all these files ? Do I keep it zipped / unzipped within the layouts folder ? I have a few other themes running right now but I really dig this particular layout. It's called Arcade Flow, as the name would suggest I would imagine most people are using these inside of cabinets only Ideally I'd like it to work on an rpi3b+.

The answer is in the Pi FAQ... just the like the answers to your other questions. That's why it's there and stickyed at the top of this section of the forum.

Still having issues perhaps somethings wrong within my files if someone can notice anything wrong etc...

I clicked on to FAQ following this link
13. How can I get rid of the terminal/console text I see when I launch a game or exit a game? Check out this post http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1642.0.

My autostart.sh found within (opt/retropie/configs/all) picture below:

I created a .txt file as stated naming it  "runcommand-onstart" which contains:

Here is the other file named "runcommand-onend":

changed both of the documents / file type to .sh & placed them all in their respective folder using  WinSCP:

Unfortunately still NOT RESOLVED unless my files don't look right etc, can any one help ? I'm STILL STUCK  Having this error / issue !?

****EDIT SEEMS TO BE WORKING !!! I Just needed to reset / reboot the pi... Not much left to do getting closer !

You are using retropie software correct?

There is a way to cover that up yes

1.  Goto "Retropie"
2. Goto "Run command configuration"
3. Make launch menu Disabled
4. make Launch Menu Art Enabled

That is a quick way to hide any loading text...you will ave to have all your flyers/boxart scrapped for it to work nicely

I'm getting really close to nearing completion of my Pi build.

I have said that a hundred times already...suuuurrrrrreeee you are! *lol* no really I hope it is true..I understand the work put into it..not easy is it? *lol* :D

I already had "3. Make launch menu Disabled". I didn't have "4. make Launch Menu Art Enabled" though after enabling it I still see the same nag / info screens with generic launch terminal text both when launching a game from attract mode into & out of MAME games. issue not resolved.

I'm getting really close to nearing completion of my Pi build. Can someone help with eliminating what I consider NAG text / random game info when a game launches or exits MAME Attract irritates me. NO I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT MAME NAG SCREENS (Those are already gone / disabled)... It's before / after MAME launches or exits. It's incredibly brief virtually so fast that it's impossible to read without taking a burst photo of it, but I want it gone on both launching a game while using attract mode / MAME. Some games contain more text / info some are more simplified I really don't want to see these screens at all, how can I eliminate them ? Below is an example of said annoying text / looks like the Pi terminal / dos / black screen with game info text just prior to launching mame :

Also to note it's not in RetroArch because those settings are turned OFF (That helped with yellow text appearing on the bottom of the screen though):

Ultimately I ended up using the method at the bottom of this thread:
http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=2330.0 /  Reply #13... Easiest method for me anyways, without the need to rebuild lists or create new ones simply edit the arcade.cfg

OK so if any one else runs into this issue I figured out at least a way to resolve & fix it without going bananas. I simply went into WinSCP once it generated that large .txt rom list I figured I would be able to find it and modify it keeping the proper / corrected names which is the entire purpose of this thread.

With that being said for posperity the file that's needed to do so is located
/opt/retropie/configs/all/attractmode/romlists/

the file I needed was "arcade.txt" within that folder.

My text had over 3045 lines of code (Due to the fact that it was generating the MAME .XML and well I can't explain but I managed to fix it). Within the .txt file / the "Rom List" sure enough some were short .zip file names (the roughly 1500+ problems), the others perfectly alphabetized using the games names... I figured it would work If I had just deleted the wrong text and saved the file within WinSCP sure enough it worked like a charm. Not only are my roms now cut down to size they are finally properly named / in order! I also used this method to easily implement Dragon's Lair into my MAME Wheel / Arcade Wheel, being that I had it working within Daphne, I wanted it working / displayed on my MAME wheel as I consider it an Arcade game.. I was able to modify the text and place it exactly where I wanted to. I did the same thing for Mortal Kombat II & Mortal Kombat 3 as you can see here (this is what a portion of the romlist txt file looks like):

which was really irritating me as it showed those two titles in the wrong order within the "wheel/ game list on attract mode". I simply moved the text around and BAM Displayed & Working as it should FINALLY !!

It's going to be mighty tedious but I need to correct the marquees which I'm missing lots, but that's just easy cosmetics. The rest of what I'm looking to do I think is just polish. Appreciate you guys being helpful & patient hope this post might help someone else that uses this method and doubles up their rom's etc this is also an incredibly EASY way to transfer games from one display / layout to the other aka Dragon's Lair on a Daphne Display to have it be incorporated into a MAME Wheel, super simple this way.

& NOW NONE OF MY GAMES LAUNCH. Forgetting about having a doubled up list with some in the proper name convention and some still having their .zip file names I started out with everything working now none of my games launch ! I get black & white text really fast & it's not launching any game !

I already changed back "/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh" I just simply don't get it.

**edit when I hit "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" ON Key board, it restarted the pi / launched back Attract Mode after a reboot & games are now WORKING (Still double list needs to be fixed), how do I remove this info screen that shows up literally for a half second when launching the games:

**I'm still plauged with having a DOUBLED ROM wheel list with half of it looking perfect & the other half right where I started though. So this is more critical than anything else at this point.
