General / Re: Joy2Key
« on: January 12, 2020, 07:43:26 PM »
It's easier to switch profiles by linking the emulators applications to certain profiles in joy2key itself than writing commands on the frontend. It's so easy i made profiles for every emulator to have the same "exit back to frontend" button on all of the emulators.
It would also work if you ever play the emulators without the frontend, as long as you remember to open joy2key of course, which might be cool.

Emulators / EPSXe and multidisk games. How?
« on: January 12, 2020, 07:26:21 PM »
As the title says, i use EPSXe and i have no clue how to approach multidisk games, and there's some great ones like final fantasy (7 and 9) or metal gear solid.

I must find a solution to this! You have any? Only thing i can come up with is adding the game twice, but if some game needs to swap disks during gameplay it could get tricky.

not bad bruh. I'd like it if you can switch the purple for other color on the layout config somehow. You think that's possible?

very nice, i'm gonna check out your glow, i was trying to achieve that effect and i did something with bloom and a very small source image but it doesn't quite achieve what i wanted.

I don't have any arcade games here so i dunno if i'll ever end up using your theme but it's so nice i'll keep it around just in case

is there a download link for these? or it wasn't released yet?

i went ahead and made my custom PSX theme
https://www.mediafire.com/file/964et8apmle92st/OlRoom_PSX.zip/file

Check out what i added:
  • CRT shader on the screen
  • subtle color glow on the whole room
  • support for boxart (flat, 3D and CD/cart)
All those can be disabled on the layout options.

To use this glow thing you'll have to modify the bloomMultipass shader on your shader module, instructions are on the layout.nut file, right on top.
If you know how, make a parameter that can be set on the layout instead. I tried making some sort of "alphaValue" parameter to avoid modifying the actual shader (beyond creating the variable/parameter, duh) but i could not. I don't really get shaders so i did my best.

Of course feel free to replace my ugly enviroment with whatever you want, it's just editing the background you already have same way i did with mine. I kept the screen in the same spot as the original theme (based this on the MegaDrive one) so no coding required for replacing.

Themes / PSP robospin
« on: July 14, 2019, 05:49:10 PM »
It's a modification of Sean Wallitsch's "Robospin GBA".
Hope you don't mind me doing this without asking for permission. Since i didn't see any layouts for PSP i gave it a try.
There is a lot of room for improvement but i think it looks fine for an hour (or so) of work eh?

Any feedback is welcome.

I added suport for CRT filters using the shader module, i know it's no big deal but i'd share it if anyone is interested.
Besides that i pretty much kept the original theme (i made a custom background that looks like my childhood home and TV but i doubt anyone wants that).

I'm interested in making some sort of ambience lightning based on the snap. Anyone did something like that? I suppose i would make a mask for the background, and then use a very blurred version of the video to shed some light and color. With "add" blending if possible. I don't really know what im talking about, i could do it on photoshop but is it doable on a .nut file?

Great work!
Unlike many others for portable devices, this one makes the snaps shine, and it even looks sorta realistic with the tint and the glass reflection!

Waiting for a GBA and PSP ones  ;)

General / Re: Update Romlist without losing changes

Edit the romlist file.?

Sure i could do that, but it's kind of a hassle. I assumed there was a better way, since we have all these automatic scrapers and rom list generations.

If there is no way to do this, it's one hell of a feature to request to the devs. Probably not that hard to implement, just compare current ROM filename with the list we have during list generation, if it's included, ignore. Or have a setting somewhere that defines if ignore, overwrite, or start a list from scratch. Hell, i'd try to write that if any of you give me some insight in which file controls the romlist creation (don't get your hopes up tho, i'm not that good)

General / Update Romlist without losing changes
« on: July 11, 2019, 09:25:21 PM »
Something i've been struggling since i started using AM is this, whenever i download a single new game for a certain emulator, if i wanna include it on my lists, i lose all the changes i made to every other rom, the displayed name, the genre, number of players, etc.

Is there a way to look for roms and ignore the ones that are already there, only add the new ones? or anything along the lines, maybe something that asks you if you wanna overwrite, something that saves for good on some config file what you change on the roms?

is there a way to load the information from, say, the NES romlist so it's automatically applied to an "ALL GAMES" list? i'm currently not inheriting any data from the lists.

please help

Scripting / Re: Genre / Category class and images
« on: July 11, 2019, 07:54:51 PM »
I made a bunch of new genres because "rhythm" and "VR" were a must have for me, and for some reason i had "action" as the same thing as "platformer".
Since i spent a few minutes on that i'll share the images.

now i have way too many colors, but i save the bad ones for genres i don't play much, like strategy or adventure, and i save the clearly noticeable ones like yellow and red for RPG and Fighters.
