Attract Mode crashes when generate collection/Rom list
« on: March 31, 2021, 07:19:20 PM »
New to attract mode and think im doing things right from videos and walk thrus, but when i go to generate collection/Rom list it either crashes and closes on its own or shows the (not responding) window. Any idea why that would happen, worked for when i did it for NES but trying for SNES and working for that.

Sometimes i've got same problems.

-try newest version of AM

-use a small package/part of files to rom-folder > generate Romlist > copy romlist-textfile away > then replace next romfile-pack > generate next Romlist > copy romlist-textfile away > and so on > FINAL : copy and paste all single romlists to one "final" romlist
AM Version : 2.6.1
Input : Mad Catz Brawlstick; Mouse; Keyboard; Xbox360 Wireless
Cabinet : Yes
OS : Windows10 Pro
System : Dell Precision T3500 ; Intel X5650 ; 12GB RAM

I have to agree with hermine.potter on  this one.

Sometimes a game name will freak out AM and the list building .e.g. extra space the the begging or end of a rom name..or a character that AM doesn't like ^%#@!&- and sometimes to find the "incorrectly" named roms you have to work in batches. I have done that a few times myself

do all the "A roms" then the "B roms" ect.

Was having a fURYOS time with crashing during generating rom list.  Think I have a solution.

I believe its the "Info Source/Scraper" setting hanging things up

Launch Attract-mode then press "Tab" and go to

Emulators>SNES> Info Source/Scraper ----------- "Make it blank!!!!!!" (Remove whatever is there ie thegamesdb.net)
(Choose NES, PSX, Sega Genesis etc and change each to "blank")

This should allow mass rom list generation with no problems

Use an external Scraper program such as "Skraper" to generate artwork/thumbnails/video previews etc
