General / Re: Version 2.0.0 Release Candidate #3

I tried your suggestions with mixed results. The compability modes did nothing and neither did updating to the newest Nvidia-drivers.

The switch to the 32bit version of Attract Mode sort of remedied the problem though: Switching from game to game still hangs like previously for the first five games or so that I scroll through, but after that everything suddenly works like intended. While not ideal, this is FAR better than before and I will wait on further versions of Attract Mode in the hopes that they will somehow fix whatever the problem is.

Regarding clean installs: The install I mentioned that worked, was 1.5.3 and was transferred directly from my main-system, whereas the others have been installed directly on my arcade-PC.

Before trying out the 32bit version, I also tried to install several different versions of Attract Mode, and strangely the problem does not exist with V1.6.0 and everything before it, but started after that version.

As said though, the 32bit version takes care of most of the problems and is workable for now. I am still hoping that a newer version (maybe 2.0 Final) will somehow take care of it altogether.

Thanks for your help on this Omegaman - I appreciate your input.

Thanks for the reply Omegaman.

I tried your recommendations, but sadly none of them fixed the problem.

To single out the problem, I tried changing out movies with box-pics instead which solved the speed issue, so it seems to be a problem with the videoplayer in Attract Mode – does anyone know if there is any way of configuring this part of the frontend?

I also tried changing out the originally used MP4-videos with AVI-versions instead, but they gave the same problems. To make sure it wasn’t a codec problem K-Lites Codes Pack was also installed.

To reiterate I am running Attract Mode on a i5 with a 650TI (8GB of ram) and have it all installed on a SSD, so “bandwidth” shouldn’t be the problem.

Has anyone experienced the same problems?

Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this (if so, mod please move it).

Anywho, I wanted to hear if anyone has encountered the same problem since moving to version 2:

No matter what theme I use, switching from game to game (with flyers, snaps and movies enabled) suddently takes 2 - 3 seconds. The system simple seems to stall for a while when changing.

I checked my old install again (1.5.2) which still runs fine without any hint of this problem.

I am running it all on Win10, i5 with a Nvidia 650 TI if that is of any help.

Thanks.

I REALLY like this skin, but have one question that I don't believe I have seen answered: Is there any way to remove the bouncing "Attract Mode" logo from the top left corner - it "bounces" every time I scroll to a new game and would like to remove it if possible.

Thanks for all the hard work kent79 :)

I figured I would give an example from my romlist to make the problem more understandable:

#Name;Title;Emulator;CloneOf;Year;Manufacturer;Category;Players;Rotation;Control;Status;DisplayCount;DisplayType;AltRomname;AltTitle;Extra
gamename;Game Name (Japan);mame;;1990;Irem;;2;270;joystick (8-way);good;1;raster;;;

As you can see "Manufacturer" is not included in the line that AttractMode creates for my romlist.

I am using a standard version of Mame, having added my rompath in the .ini file and set it up in Attract Mode.

Any help would be appriciated - thanks.

@kent79

I asked about the same earlier ;)

You can edit the script to add your own systems under the transitions section at bottom of layout.nut.
example below:

                case "MAME":
                logo.file_name = "mame.png";
                break;
                case "SNES":
                logo.file_name = "snes.png";
                break;
                case "NES":
                logo.file_name = "nes.png";
                 break;
                case "GENESIS":
                logo.file_name = "sega.png";
                break;
             case "kat5200":
                logo.file_name = "atari.png";
                break;

General / Basic filtering questions.
« on: August 27, 2015, 07:31:21 AM »
Hi all,

Having set up my general Mame list, I now would like to have it seperated into a few specific genres using filters.

Using shooters as an example, I have tried setting up a basic filter with "Category equals Shooter / Flying Vertical" (I have tried it both as a Global Filter and a normal filter), which leaves me with an empty screen.

I figured the filtering definitions was gathered from the Mame-romlist file and therefore had a look at it, which confusingly showed me that categories is not included in my romlist.

Having seen other people use filters for their Mame lists with the category option, I was wondering if somebody can tell me what I am doing wrong?

"Marquees and system logos will work in a similar way. If marquees = no, then system logos will be used."

It's probably just me, but I cannot find the option to turn marquees off, and thereby having the marquee used as a system-logo.

Omegaman: This is brilliant, thanks :)

@Omegaman:

That sounds really, REALLY cool - can't wait to give it a go (if you need any last-minute beta-testers, let me know ;) ).

And yes, I did know about every system needing to have Robospin selected. What I was hoping was possible, was to somehow choose one marquee pr system. The updates you are talking about, sound as if they will fix this though.

Once again, thank you for the great work on the skin - I will be hitting the refresh button on this thread for the rest of the day ;)

Since I am still looking for some way to have the skin show which system/console is being used, I am asking this again (maybe someone has come up with a clever solution): Is there any way to have one system use one specific marquee?

For instance, if I could have all SNES games use one specific marquee, I could use the marquee to show which system was being used - does anyone know a clever way to do this?

Just in case there was any misunderstanding, I would greatly appriciate if you where to implement the showing of selected systems Raygun.

@Omegaman: Thanks for the tip, I will use it as a temporary solution :)
