HELP! *Makaron Emulator
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:25:59 PM »
OK so using this emulator for Naomi called Makaron. I know there are other emulators for Naomi but this one works best for my setup. There are 2 types of Rom files/extensions that this emulator uses .DAT and .ZIP files. Everything is working in my emulator the problem is in AM. both file types are set in the emulator config. the exe for the emulator is called naomi.exe. the issue is I can launch any of the .DAT roms fine from AM but the .ZIP roms give error. I think the issue is that when you open the exe outside of AM there is a drop down for rom types either .DAT or .ZIP and the .ZIP ones are the ones that don't play in AM but fine when choosing them in the emulator, maybe there is an "arg" i need to add?...Please HELP it's driving me crazy

Pasted config file:

#
#
executable           C:\ARCADE\NAOMI\Makaron T12-5\NAOMI.exe
args                 "[romfilename]"
rompath              C:\ARCADE\NAOMI
romext               .zip;.dat
system               naomi
info_source          thegamesdb.net
exit_hotkey          Num3
artwork    flyer
artwork    marquee         C:\ARCADE\MARQUEES
artwork    snap            C:\ARCADE\snaps
artwork    wheel

I'm not sure, but have a look:
Start naomi.exe > File > Load Game > see filetypes

.bin, .dat => seems that this belongs to naomi-rom and bios-files
.zip => it's labeled as mame .zip

probably you can only open mame-zip-files, instead naomi-zip-files?!
AM Version : 2.6.1
Input : Mad Catz Brawlstick; Mouse; Keyboard; Xbox360 Wireless
Cabinet : Yes
OS : Windows10 Pro
System : Dell Precision T3500 ; Intel X5650 ; 12GB RAM

Thanks for replying :), It is a mame zip file that it is trying to open, it opens it fine outside AM. Is there something I can put into AM that makes the emulator determine if the rom is a zip or a dat besides just the ext type?

I saw on a different forum that for a diff front end someone was using a batch file. U think this is possible? I would have no idea how to do this?

Makaron supports command line here how to get this to work :  i have a rom call project justice that i run in makaron but i lauch using a .bat file ...
open up notpad and put this in:

NAOMI.exe pjustic.zip

save the notpad file as a .bat file and not t.xt
also make sure the the rom is in the root directory of the emulator
open up that .bat file that you created and it should run....i have had problems with some roms though.
example doa roms and meltyblood havn't  tried others

@sketchboi You are awesome thanks! I have trying to get this to work for a looooooong time. This worked perfect! ;D My only problem now is that the exit hot key from AM does not work, however this is the problem I have with all Windows games from AM so I have to use Alt+F4 from a keyboard but this would be great if I can use the exit hot key feature. Any ideas?

@xev1in
>Starting games:
Always : generate a batch-file and test parameters with a specific game (as told as by sketchboi too) or type it directly in command-window
