General / PC-98 emulation? [Solved]

I can emulate PC-98 (Touhou) games using Neko Project II and T98-Next. But those emulators doesn't seem to accept command lines (I don't know what it's called) (e.g.: c:\emulator\gameboy\bgb.exe "super mario land.gb"); which means I can't create shortcuts for the games, and you can't use attract mode to order the emulator to open a "rom".

Anyone have tried adding PC-98 games in attract mode?

I've set this up back in 2020 using flat_blue and silky.

But as you can see, it's not really complete. I wish it can actually randomly show a compatible game video, and not just static. I just don't have the skills to do that.

But maybe in the year of our lord, 2022, there's already a theme that does exactly that; is there?

General / Linux Dosbox Scraping

I compiled attract-mode and installed dosbox in Linux Mint.

Install first game, Dune II. Just use the main exe name as the game name, dune2.bat; from dune2.exe.

It's now running with no issues. The problem is scraping. the title dune2 is not recognized by thegamesdb.

I could rename the bat file to "Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty.bat",  yes, that would scrape info from thegamesdb; but dosbox doesn't like spaces, the moment dosbox calls the bat file, it only sees the first word, Dune, an unknown command, and then returns an error.

The only other related thread I can find is this.

The example it provide is Wolfenstein3D, no space in between. I doubt it will scrape, but I just might not be seeing something crucial here. Please help.

General / Tag Equals doesn't work

I have a display called "3D Action" and a display called "3D Action Vehicular".

Then I notice that "Twisted Metal" shows up in my "3D Action" display. So, I change the filter from "contains" to "equals" but that breaks the display not showing any games at all.

Emulators / Windows 9x games emulation?

I'm thinking of adding 9x games (windows 95, window 98, windows ME) in my attractmode ((or build) is this what it's called).

Should I use an emulator?
Dosbox
Dosbox-X
PCem

Or just try to make it work in windows 10?

General / Tagging and filtering games with the same name.

So, I have the three Aladdin games:

Disney's Aladdin by SIMS for the Master System
Aladdin by Virgin games for the Genesis
Disney's Aladdin by Capcom for the SNES

The genesis version is not a problem since it's just called "Aladdin" in thegamesdb instead of its name, "Disney's Aladdin". But there is a conflict between the Master System and the SNES version. Apparently AM can only tag one of the games that have the same name in a Display of a "Collection". That means the other game/s that was not "chosen" by AM is untaggable.

Is there a workaround to this? Like manually including the emulator name in the tag file?

So, something like:

Code: [Select]

2D Side-scrolling Platformer.tag

Disney's Aladdin Master System
Disney's Aladdin SNES
Instead of just:

Code: [Select]

2D Side-scrolling Platformer.tag

Disney's Aladdin

General / Anyone here use Stella for Atari 2600?

I'm trying to add Atari 2600 games into my attract-mode, but nothing happens when I select "Generate Collection/Rom List"

I have Adventure.a26 and Breakout.bin (both tested with Stella), but they can't seem to be detected.[/img]

General / Group by genre, then console generation, then game instead?

I've played around with Attract-mode last year. And I've actually set up NES, SNES, Genesis, and mame games. But it's not really what I wanted (see title). Now, one and a half years later, is that now possible? I know it's still version 2.6.1; but maybe there is a work around now, like some kind of xml/spreadsheet way.

So, I got Twinbee 3 for the NES

thegamesdb.net knows it as "TwinBee 3: Poko Poko Daimaō", so i rename it to "TwinBee 3 Poko Poko Daimaō", attract-mode detects it, but it can't add its flyer, video, and wheel.

I could rename "Daimō" to "Daimou", but thegamesdb.net will no longer recognize it.

What do?

You press a button and the details and screenshot will show up instead of launching the game?
