SDArcade is the PERFECT Attract-Mode front end theme for lower resolution arcade monitor setups. Originally made by JediOne for the PC version of Attract-Mode in the vein of the ArcadeSD arcade multigame system, Dee2er converted it for use with the Pi. It's been through a number of changes since then. Version 3 brings to the table a number of new features including backgrounds, static frames and more...
FEATURES:
• select vertical or horizontal mode
• 8 backgrounds or the original black
• 8 static frames or the original animated color changing frame
• 3 sizes of "preview" frame to choose from
• 5 header animation types
• select wheel graphics or marquee graphics for the header
• more...

Sorry to hear of your hell, man... just glad it turned out for the "better" rather than the worse... and I only say better with quotes because the entire ordeal was HELL I am sure...
I can't even imagine. The most important thing though is that you and your family are OK.

...and because, for whatever reason, I can not just STOP working on adding more and more crap to this layout...
I am now considering working on a "skin" system for a "front" graphical layer. The idea is to use it to make "port holes" to look out "in to space".... (see example below).
I'm even considering adding the option of turning off the stars... and then I could add a bunch of other type of skins (think Mario Bros Pipe to Pipe kind of skin, etc).... but then I figured that would be WAY too much for a single layout. Perhaps I'll put together a separate ..."non-starfield" layout and develop that one separate from this one which would keep the "space" theme...
>sigh<
...it's sort of a sickness it seems.

Sorry to hear that @jedione. Glad your safe.

UPDATE: SDArcade v3.0 worked great for the ARpiCADE ... but was broke for the PC (and probably the Mac) it turns out. I have fixed this issue. The fixed file is marked with an "f" at the end of the filename. You can download it here:

My apologies for the inconvenience. I am learning.

Videos go in the "snaps" folder along with the snap images...

My error... I've updated both this and SDAMAX to "f" versions (for fixed)... which fixes these issues. My apologies. You can get them above in the OP.
BUT ... you may want to hold off bit ... I am "this" close to releasing version 4...
;)
Here's a taste...
https://youtu.be/1P-1NnCjWms
A quick run-down on the additions...
• Favorites indicator
• Skins (most space themed, but the "bezel" option comes back)
• Progress Bar
• Animated Box, Static Box, & now a NO box option (looks nicest in conjunction with a skin)
• A bunch of tweaks and tiny fixes
A fellow member has created his own branch of this theme with "categories" and "number of player" indicators. They look nice, but none of my playlists have the necessary information to make either work nor am I too keen on going through them all and adding said info...so I have yet to decide to include these options (with the ability to turn them on/off of course). He also has a functioning clock ... another potential option, but one I "personally" wouldn't use.

thanks and, vs4 looks realy good cant wait to pick it up at the garage

Thanks for the layout! Looks awesome
I have everything setup now, but I ran into some issue: when I put a display with this layout it starts consuming one of the cores of the CPU untill it reaches 100%, and after about 30 seconds, the layout runs much slower. If I change the display and put the one with SDArcade again runs smooth again for about 30 seconds and slows down again. Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks!

I know this is an old thread, I have the theme set to vertical but it shows horizontally. Could this bee something conflicting with my Pi screen setting to vertical already?
-
Was able to get the orientation correct, but whenever I come out of a vertical game, the front-end is rotated 90 degrees. If I play a horizontal game, the front-end is correct when I come back to it.
