Attract-Mode system requirements?
« on: April 30, 2016, 06:40:38 PM »
Does AM have a listed set of system requirements?

I've gotten my collection running on 3 seperate PC's now, but when I try on a 4th, somewhat older laptop, the program starts, I get about 5 seconds into the intro, and it pops up the following "Graphical front-end for command line emulators has stopped working"

I thought it was perhaps the intro, but i removed it and I still get that error.

The main difference in between the other 3 and this laptop, is that it only has 2gb of Ram.

Any suggestions?  Thank you!!

It runs on a raspberry pi b with 256mb of ram.
but, RPI has a decent GPU.

I've run Attract Mode on a p3/athlon 1ghz PC's with 512mb ram on Linux with a minimal desktop.
Onboard video tanked the front end.
I had to put at least an ati radeon 7000 video card in the old systems to get them to run the frontend decently.

What craphics card is in that older laptop?

It's my father in law's older laptop - it's an E-Machine, so I'm sure it has Intel integrated something.

Anyone else care to share their personal setup/specs and performance?

Tried Attract Mode on 3 machines now:
Core2Duo Lenovo t8100 2.10GHz laptop 3GB Ram
Dual core 2.5GHz E5200 2GB Ram
Dell Core2Duo 2.9GHz 4GB Ram
all 32Bit Windows 7

All run terribly,
all the classic and console games up to PSX work fine on each system but the FE is slow as hell even with basic displays.

I switched to see NEVATO theme and it went from bad to not usable :(
What gives?

Have you tried updating your video drivers? Doing so resolved an issue with my windows pc and attractmode being unusable slow.

Mac 10.11 Imac mid 2011 i3 2.7ghz 12gb ram integrated hd2000 graphics

Windows 7 64-bit i3 3.1ghz 4gb ram external hd4350 graphics

Using mac as my dev for attract mode layouts is getting annoying. Window resizing is all fucked up. Need that bug fixed.

Cheers.
Well I also tried manually updating display drivers on the other two machines with mixed results.
my laptop (lenovo) now refuses to show anything when you launch attractmode.
it now crashes, even the cursor disappears. you can get back and close it via the windows key... eventually.

The other one was vastly improved in speed by getting new display drivers, however it now does this:

a bug from last xmas! but I have the newest version, was this fixed?
