Thank you, I can certainly do the manual update, but would be nice to be able to get the auto install working in the future.

Below is the contents of last_run.log

The error I see is caused by the version of Attract Mode Plus which is not the latest build, that's why it fails. you have to download the latest artifacts from here: https://github.com/oomek/attractplus/actions/runs/4659031912 you'll need a github account to download them at the bottom of the page.

Ah, okay, I will fix that as well.  Is that as simple as extracting the new archive contents over the existing?

I have ArcadeFlow 15.1 running, and at launch it tells me that version 15.9 is available.  However if I scroll down to "download and install" and then press enter, it launches whatever game is highlighted in the background.  If I hit escape, the game exits, and I see a circle of dots with "Installing" above them, but it just sits there and never does anything.  Any ideas how to make the auto-install work?  If I hit escape again, it seems to cancel the process, and I don't find a new AF archive anyplace, at least not in downloads folder, or the folder where I have AF installed. Thanks!

I can try to debug the issue if you have a last run log with the error, or you can manually update to 15.9. Download the release here: https://github.com/zpaolo11x/Arcadeflow/archive/refs/tags/15.9.zip then do a backup copy of your current arcadeflow folder just in case something goes wrong, and unpack the new release on top of the old release. The release won't touch your config files and should work fine once you run it again.

So I have had AF installed on my cabinet for a while, it was running version 11.0.  I didn't realize that I hadn't turned on the auto-update option, so when it would prompt me that there was a new version available, it would be downloaded but not installed.  I tried to update to 14.5, and all I see on the screen is black.  Thinking I'd hosed something up, I copied my entire AttractMode folder to a backup location, and started from scratch, newly unextracted AM 2.62, .exe files for AM+, and a new download of AF 14.5, but the same thing happens, when I select AF as my display, all I see is a black screen with a couple of white spots.  If I select the Basic or Cools, or some other theme, they work.  Any thoughts on what I'm going wrong?

Thx!

I'll set it to 0. I'll see if AF leaks.

I'll delete the dB file too. To generate the dB file again I have juste to generate the rom list in AF?

Hi, I am getting this message after updating AF (from 11 to 13.3 or later), where do you go to set this value to 0?  I could not find it in the options.  Is it somewhere in a config file that I need to manually update?  Thanks.

I checked in my snap directory, and all I have in there are .png files, so no videos.

Or could I just move/rename the directory where snap videos are located?  I don't remember if I have videos or not.  I'm assuming they would have come from using the scrape option?  And are they in their own directory someplace?  It's been a while since I configured AM, I've slept since then...

Installed AM 2.5 and configured it for MAME and a simple screensaver and then let it sit running, and it still locks up.  Sometimes takes more than an hour, sometimes it's less than that, seems random.  Guess I will either try to install Win7, or stick with using FEEL.  Wish I'd copied down the info from the Win7 upgrade advisor, so I have some reassurance that this PC can handle it before trying that route.

But is your Win7 32 or 64 bit version?  My recollection is that the main issue was with 32 bit XP, but I don't remember if people had experienced issues with 64 bit XP or 32 bit Win7.

I will give 2.4/2.5 a try this weekend.  From my recollection, there is not an install routine for AM, you just extract it from an archive?  Is it possible to have multiple versions installed on the same PC?  Would be nice to not have to disturb my 2.3.0 install to try out 2.4 and/or 2.5.

Further question, has the freezing issue show up in 32-bit Win7, or was it just confined to XP?  I don't believe this PC would run 64-bit anything, at least not well.  At some point, I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and it said it could handle 32-bit Win7, but I think it said no to 64-bit.  Tried to run it again, and the Advisor app can't access the pertinent Microsoft server (guessing it doesn't exist anymore).

My other thought is to replace the computing guts of my cabinet.  Either buy a refurbished/not-quite-as-old PC that comes with a more modern OS, or go with a Raspberry Pi.  The monitor in my cabinet uses HDMI, audio is thru a 3.5mm jack, and all of my controls are USB-based (IPAC2, couple of Ultrastik 360's, and a SpinTrak and U-Trak that both plug into the IPAC2).  All of that should work with a Pi, correct?  A Pi appeals to me from both a cost standpoint, and it should be a lot quieter/cooler.  I haven't played around with a Pi at all, but it sounds like there are several pre-compiled MAME-ready builds (Retropie, etc.) that enable one to jump right in, and I see that AM works on it as well.  Though I think I've read that the Pi won't run the latest versions of MAME, and some newer games won't run on it?  Think I've got 0191 running on the XP machine, and haven't bothered to update it.  I'm not worried about playing any modern games on it, more concerned that my controls will work.

General / WinXP 32-bit work better with newer versions
« on: February 06, 2019, 08:01:12 AM »
Is there any evidence that version 2.4 or 2.5 fix any of the issues when using AM on a PC with WinXP 32-bit?  Specifically, the issue where AM freezes up after an hour or so of running.  I never got that resolved, so I've been using F.E.E.L. on my MAME machine since it works, though I preferred the look/style/feel of AM better.

I suppose the best solution is to update the OS on the PC, but that would most likely require a more powerful PC.  I toyed with the idea of installing Win7 on it, but I haven't been able to find a place that sells (valid) Win7 keys lately.

administrator privileges ?
check forlder security or assign admin to exe

Nope, not that.  I tried launching FP from PinballX and it recorded/showed the high scores then.  Using the same command line to launch FP in both front ends.  Very odd.

General / high score issue with Future Pinball
« on: December 12, 2017, 08:13:50 PM »
I recently noticed that if I load and play a Future Pinball table from the Future Pinball itself, it saves the high scores in the fpram file for that pinball table, as it should.  But if I play the same FP table, but launch it from Attract Mode, it does not save those scores to the associated high score file.  And it's not creating an additional fpram file anyplace else on my computer.  Any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks, Eric

The only Win7 product key that I have is on another computer that was updated to Win10, and it was an OEM-provided key.  So I don't think that would work to de-activate and then try and use it on another PC.

General / Further question reg. Attract Mode and 32-bit Windows
« on: December 11, 2017, 06:56:17 PM »
Does anybody know if the latest version of AM freezes up randomly running on 32-bit Windows 7?  Still trying to resolve this issue (currently running on 32-bit WinXP SP3) and I believe this particular PC would run Win7 okay, but not necessarily the 64-bit version.  Don't really want to go spend $50 on a Win7 product key and find myself encountering the same problem as I am now.  If it is still an issue with any 32-bit OS, I will spend the $$ towards a new(er) PC for my cabinet.

Thanks,
Eric
