look take this how you want but most  of you guys do so much CRAP to attract mode when (for the hundredth time) IT DOES NOT NEED HELP ! i have windows 7 shelled to attract mode , mame , daphne , and a couple nes snes emus and mine works FLAWLESSLY!

you DONT need rocket launcher you DONT need a million scripts or any OTHER fancy crap to make this work. on my main 4 player cab witch is in my profile pic has 2 screens one for marquee and a big one for games and i have NO issues.(except for the once in a while windows crap)

and most of all my installs are stock from this website and mame (except for the nonag exe for mame. that i got grom gameex's website)

but you know....

im just trying to be helpful and hope people get there stuff working as good as mine.....
(and i also get that platforms are different but my point is attract mode WORKS without help and my cab is proof of that)

I've put together a simple layout to demonstrate my drop shadow code, here it works for wheel art but you can use it on any image. I'm not a good programmer but I'm sure someone might like the code and maybe build something useful with that (a class?) so that it can be used and re-used.

The parameters to play with to define the shadow are in the code, they are self explanatory except from shadow_downsample, this is a float parameter < 1.0 so that the shadow surface is built smaller than the original image and then enlarged. Since the shadow is smooth you won't loose detail and gain speed because the shader will be faster on a smaller image.

I'm not having a problem with scraping. I just did over 400 games just like 3 days ago.

What happens if you try to scrape today? I have tested many different ways and none of them work. There is no question that thegamesdb.net made changes, it's documented.


worked just fine... only error i got was got a platform error but it still scraped my stuff..... but it still scraped my wheel art. i even filmed it with todays date.
so i dont understand how many people on here are having major issues and im not. the only issue i have is im using windows 7 and i dont want windows. but thats for a different thread...

Ah,  I didn't test on latest build... I too am still using older build... I'll have to move over to the latest.

I've never tried putting a font in a sub-folder... but you're saying you cant simply add the subfolder to the string?  ie: local fonty = "fonts/captain"?

That's how images and scripts work... I "assumed" that would be how fonts work too?

EDIT: I just tested and NOPE... "fonts/captain" didn't work nor did "fonts/captain.ttf"...

wondering.. does anyone know why.?

so in your layout folder you can put a  font.tff   and refrence it in the layouyt
ie:     local fonty = "captain"   like normal

now if you put that font in a folder and name the folder "fonts"  it now wont work.

but now if you put that folder in a new folder call it  "assets"     
ie:  assets>font>capitan.tff it works

were is the documentation on this...and what ells can be done as far as layout organization?
