Display Issue w/crt_emudriver and Windows 7
« on: May 21, 2019, 05:42:36 AM »
All,

I’m driving a crt (WG K7000) via crt_emudriver.  Windows is natively set to 640x480.  When I launch attract mode the screen is garbled.

Any suggestions?

if I launch AttractMode from a super resolution, it loads but it squished.

However, if I launch it from 640x480, it appears as above.

GroovyMame is working perfectly using super resolutions.  Games all work.  I can also launch/run Launchbox/BigBox with no issues.

Adjust your monitors HORIZONTAL FREQUENCY pot...  you are a hair out of adjustment...

OR perhaps the layout you are trying to run is of a higher resolution than your monitor can support?

so, I fixed the horiz hold pot, and was able to stablize the image, however attract mode seems to be forcing the video mode into progressive, not interlaced.

Then, when I exit out of attract mode, windows is displaying the same:

I then have to force 640x480 interlaced and it straightens itself back out:

Any suggestions?

I have same exact monitor and running windows 10 with crt emudriver.

Windows runs min 640x480, which means that you are going to be interlaced. Attract on default window mode. Attract takes windows resolution. There isnt a way that i know of to force a new resolution for attractmode.

Perhaps try to run in BORDERLESS mode?  It may run the same interlaced mode as windows?

I'll have to look into it.  I actually was able to force 320x240 in windows through a custom user mode with vmmaker..  attractmode launched correctly in that resolution, but all of the fonts look compressed.

not sure if you fixed your problem, but did you try 1 - Stop and Disable service: AMD External events utility
2 - Ensure that the Windows advanced display option is enable: "hide modes that is monitor cannot display"

Hi, sorry for wake up this post... I have the same problem than @mgerety with AM

the solution for me was, go to:

-control panel
  - display
    - screen resolution
      - advanced settings

then in the monitor tab, check "hide modes that this monitor cannot display"

and in "services" stop and disable the service "AMD External Events Utility"

I hope this help anyone.

Cheers.
