General / Re: Romlist wheel display error

Quick update on this, just in case anyone else ever has the issue.

I am using a custom Romlist, as I'm using the Nesica theme, which customises a few fields for the front end. For some unknown reason, Notepad seemed to causing the issue when saving the Romlist.

When I edited and saved using Notepad++, the rogue game vanished from the wheel. V strange, but glad it's sorted.

General / Best way to update while keeping user settings

As per title, what is the best way to upgrade while keeping my AM settings? I'd like to be using the most robust version, but don't want to break my custom theme if possible. I assume that just replacing the .exe in my current AM folder with the latest release isn't a good idea?

Sure thing. I'm on AM version 2.2.1.0

And I've attached the romlist.

Thanks for the response, progets. I tried both suggestions and neither worked (it shows up a ‘blank’ game where the blank line is in the romlist.. So strange.

General / Romlist wheel display error

I have an annoying issue with my AM display, in that it is reading the hashtag header at the top of my romlist as a game, and trying to insert this as a game (?!) into the wheel (see below).

The heading at the top of the romlist is '#Cave Games'.

I've tried putting a space after the hashtag, but that doesn't resolve the issue, neither does deleting the header line altogether (it then just fails to read the first game in the list correctly.

Any ideas? It's super annoying.

Ended up using marquees for the wheel. Might go in and photoshop borders around the images at some point, so they are consistent withy the ones atrfate has provided.

One quick question, that I would be super grateful if someone/ anyone could help me with. I have an issue whereby the selected game ins the wheel shunts the image to the left for some reason. Also, the pulsing effect that is supposed to be around the selection box isn't working either. Image below to show what I mean. Any ideas what might be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

Config settings -> input general -> user interface -> ui cancel

Defaul: ESC

Thank you! This works perfectly now.

As @projets warned, the Attract Mode solution (i.e. Configure-->Emulators-->system_name-->Exit Hotkey=X) does not cleanly quit to the front end, so the Mame side solution is the one I am going to stick with.

Thanks so much for this theme -- it's just wonderful.

I'm not sure if it's still being supported, but just wanted to see if there was a depository of art anywhere for the wheel in this theme (other than the excellent Cave and Taito ones linked to in the first post)?

I want to add a bunch of other Japanese shmups to my build, and would rather not have to photoshop the art from scratch for each of them if at all possible!

Secondly, I'm using the NXL Theme only, as I don't want to use Rocketlauncher. The theme is indeed drag and drop, but it's not pulling in the game logos as it should. Do I need to correct a path, or do something else to fix this?

Run MAME and press the "Tab" key (to enter MAME configuration mode) and then go to the menu that has the "UI Cancel" controller setting and press the buttons you desire. This isn't an AM setting.

NOT RECOMMENDED - You could also set AM using Configure-->Emulators-->system_name-->Exit Hotkey=X

P.S. You didn't tell us your hardware, OS or version of MAME, these thing might be a factor in fixing your issue.

Are you saying it's better to set this up in MAME rather than in thew Attract Mode emulator menu?

I'm using a MiniKab3 (Windows 7, latest ver of Mame 0.95].

In Mame I can't find the mapping option in the menu [see attachments]

General / Exiting game to AM on arcade machine
« on: November 08, 2018, 12:11:46 AM »
Hi all -- I cannot for the life of me figure out how to exit a game in order to return to the AM front end.

I've searched the forum and one post said you have to assign the buttons in a menu option called 'UI Cancel', but it's not listed in any of the AM menus I can see.

I just want to be able to press the Player 1 and 2 start buttons simultaneously to quit out of a Mame game back to the AM select screen. Is this possible?

Any help v gratefully received for this n00b question.
