for this new version, I just record it on SD and resize the start as in version v.4 or this new version requires other primary initial settings ?

Just the same as far as I know.

For the xin-mo (or any joystick/gamepad) I create the following file and retroarch should auto load it /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/Xin-MoXin-MoDualArcade.cfg

Code: [Select]
input_device = "Xin-Mo Xin-Mo Dual Arcade"
input_driver = "udev"
input_a_btn = "4"
input_b_btn = "3"
input_x_btn = "1"
input_y_btn = "0"
input_start_btn = "7"
input_select_btn = "6"
input_l_btn = "2"
input_r_btn = "5"
input_up_axis = "-1"
input_down_axis = "+1"
input_left_axis = "-0"
input_right_axis = "+0"
input_l2_btn = "8"
input_r2_btn = "9"

input_enable_hotkey_btn = "9"
input_exit_emulator_btn = "8"
input_rewind_btn = "1"
input_menu_toggle_btn = "4"
input_reset_btn = "3"
input_pause_toggle_btn = "0"
input_load_state_btn = "2"
input_save_state_btn = "5"
input_state_slot_increase_axis = "+0"
input_state_slot_decrease_axis = "-0"
input_volume_up_axis = "-1"
input_volume_down_axis = "+1"

Thanks ! I appreciate it.

Hi Floob,

http://pastebin.com/iRz9zcRz this is the cfg after I have configured it and it is working ok.

I will post another one after the problem starts.

Thanks for your help

phil

Update: i think i have discovered why it happens. I had my machine set up with a two way joystick, so if i did not have a keyboard connected i could not navigate to shutdown in the menu. So i would use the toggle switch on the pi power supply. Once i reboot from that the config file is re written. I have now set the joystick to 4 way and I can shutdown from the menu.

Hi Guys,

Loaded latest image onto Pi 3. Using xin mo 1 player encoder. I configure my joystick and buttons and all good. I load a game mame libretro runs fine, play fine. If i shut down and restart then launch a game, there's a message from retroarch, saving config file to a directory then my xin mo wont work, I restart and launch game retro message is xin mo not configured. Can I stop retroarch from saving the config as it seems to overwrite the settings for xin mo ?

cheers

phil

Can you confirm which file(s) you edit to get the xin-mo configured. Its important not to add any lines under the #include line on the system specific retroarch.cfg files.
Can you post your mame-libretro retroarch.cfg to pastebin?

I have sent you a PM Mr Floob.

cheers

Phil

I have only recently started using linux as a desktop. I used MAC OSX for over ten years, before that windows,dos,amiga,atari st. Whoops my age is showing :P
There is nothing wrong with all those systems they all have there issues. With windows great support for emulation but the cost of the OS itself for every mame cab I build isnt nice. Linux is free, but not as well supported and fragmented, meaning there different installers for different flavors of linux libaries etc. For me it's the thing that holds linux back. There should be a universal installer. MAC OSX is a great system unix based and very friendly. I ran it on a PC for 5 years.
We all use mame on whatever system we feel comfortable with, OS flame wars are silly so glad there's none of that here. For me if I want to build several mame cabs Linux is the most cost effective. Just my 2 cents AUD.

Hi George,

There a few linux based distro's geared towards arcade gaming. Groovy Arcade and Livemame cab come to mind. Groovyarcade is great it just hasnt been updated in a long while. I just used xubuntu as my latest attempt. It's quick and light and boots quietly.

For me I like the feeling of being microsoft free for my mame setup's. I am not anti microsoft but linux is stable reliable and free. I think a linux arcade based distro of linux is a winner, but most of the ones I have tried havent been updated in a while eg: GroovyArcade and Livemame cab. I recentlly tried xubuntu with attract mode and mame and it works a treat, no major hassles and quiet boot up straight into attract mode.

For those looking for a complete setup in a jamma cab check out this board. http://www.aussiearcade.com.au/showthread.php/67986-JAMMA-board-from-Raspberry-PI?p=983251#post983251 Has both advancemame and attract mode as possible FE's.

A friend offered me a RPI 3 and I'm thinking replacing my noisy arcade AMD athlon. What distro with mame do you guys advice for the replacement?

I think most people are using Retropie or Pi Play.
