Emulators / Re: Daphne emulator setup
« on: November 14, 2015, 05:40:44 AM »
Hello:

I have Daphne up and working on Linux Mint 17.2. It works great on its own.

I have been trying to incorporate it into AM for the last 2 hours with no luck.

When I run daphne via the CLI I get this output.

Code: [Select]

I have been messing with the Daphne setting so much that it is not nearly what I started with.

I do understand your viewpoint.

As a non-programmer and yet someone who manages projects with teams of programmers I can see the value when it comes to backwards compatibility. So the active programmers of this awesome project will have to determine for themselves if it would be easy/hard and how much or how little time would make it worth adding this compatibility in would be.

Personally I would say that incorporating it would be nice if it were easy and cost little in time as well as introduce few or no bugs to the project. Otherwise it is something that I think would be on a long term wish list.

I can see adding this because it would allow the use of a set of historically interesting files to be used natively without conversion.

Mind you I am not a programmer so I can't say how difficult this would be for this project's team.

Hi:

Unfortunately the Attract Mode front end does not have the capability to play back mng files. I personally do not see this as a problem except that it does remove a historical set of support files from being used.

I have downloaded the newest videos, from progetto, in mp4 format and they work great with the small exception that the video file sets are incomplete.

Perhaps the developers of AM will add playback of mng files to it's already long list of enhancements for the future.

Okay moer than likely this is a no way or has been answered somewhere else but I figured why not ask.

Will any other FE's themes work on AM? Like Mala or what not?

Hi jonnytracker:

I have found that downloading the video snaps from progetto actually works better and looks better than the old ming files floating around the net.

Thank you. I will give this a shot tonight.

It would be great to not have to sift through hundreds of games when all I want to do is select from a short list of say shooters.

Thanks,

General / MAME - Categories

Hello:

Is it possible to set up Attract Mode to break the MAME game list into categories?

For instance let us say that I have about 400 games set up in MAME. I have them broken into Shooters, 2.5D Action, Side Scollers, and Fighters. Is it possible to get the main menu to offer these as top level categories and drill down into sub lists?

Thank you,

Okay this looks like the theme for me. Is this built into Attract Mode?

This theme looks great!

So tell me are you using flyers for the top image and image snaps or video snaps for the bottom images?

Is there a youtube preview out there of it in action?

Has it been integrated into Attract Mode?

Thank you,

Scripting / Re: IntroVid plugin
« on: November 03, 2015, 07:38:06 AM »
Hello:

Has the "Intro Video" option/script been integrated into Attract Mode? If it has already been integrated what release is it in or will be in without the need to self-compile? If it has not been integrated fully will it?

Also with that being said is there a downloadable video prepared and will that also be integrated into Attract Mode as a default video option? If the issue becomes that adding a video to the main installation file creates too large of a file will a "downloadable content" section be created to help keep all working and vetted downloadable content organized? Or is this something already created that I am just not seeing?

Thanks for all your hard work on this project. because of this I am back into working on my arcade cabinet which has been collecting dust for over 2 years.

Thank you,
BC

I found and activated the cools theme.

What I see is the video playing in full-screen background. It is very nice.

What I don't see is the box art overlay like I am seeing on  the homepage screenshot. Any ideas? Is that really a bit of box art over the video on that screenshot or is it a Photoshopped image?

Thanks,
BC

I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff but I would love to be able to buy a $35 RP and get it working as a fully functioning emulator without having to invest in a ton of extras.

Is this really possible and if so are there any high quality well written tuts on it?

Thanks,
