I see what you mane by seeing it's glory close up. But remember we were never that close to the screen (unless we were home). As for the new one I like it too. Still like the scan lines...but I still use a CRT TV and monitor too :P

Well you know I had CP Wizard on my Windows cab. It was awesome because it showed you the CP layout so people new what button did what...but it allowed you too cycle through the artwork for the game as well. I always thought that was neat because well..that is what mame is for..history and with that got to see all the "historical stuff"

the flyers are a nice touch kinda gives it a..well idk...but it works and looks good

the scanline thing? Perfect. We never really saw pixels in old games I guess because the video was so crappy anyway. Guess that's why the "purists" spend so much money to make their cab "look as bad as possible" lol

But yeah I remember scan lines not pixels...I don't remember them till 16 bit actually.

General / Re: Rom list filtering
« on: May 28, 2015, 12:26:54 PM »
I'm not looking for a list editor/maker/category maker because they are not going to remove games that are not related to that system.Final Burn uses games roms from mame but not all of them, I want to be able to remove the games from the folder not edit the list by category or anything else.

ok so let me get this right..I hope..
Ok so you want to remove (or at least move) the mame roms the FBA uses (or the other way around) you just want to split them up...you are asking what the easiest way is? I might have a script to do that... i'll look.

Is there a software that I can use to filter my rom list?  I have multiple games for genesis and i do not need 5 version of each i just want 1 this will help me have a clean list similar to hyperspin I will also need to a software to remove multiple games for my rom folder.

Thanks

as to this.. you mean you have sonic sonic sonic [j] sonic [!] ect.? you don't need to clean your list...you need to clean your roms. Trust me...I have done this already..takes longer yeah but it is worth it in the long run...

have a back up before you use this! https://sites.google.com/site/plumology/romdeleter it is very straight forward read the page first. If your roms are not in that fomat then you can change the program to work with your format....this will NOT work for mame roms!

if you try it PM me and i'll help you more...understand i am NOT responsible for any loss if any occurs! I used it and cleaned mine up in five minutes.

I don't know if we should - for me arcade is more about scanlines and phosphor glow. Not really about "showing pixels".

Well yeah you are right about that..

thats looks good though :)

Well again as hemine said check your syntax..

rompath              B:\mame151\MAME 0.151 ROMs;D:\finalburn\FBA\ROMs <-wrong
rompath              "B:\mame151\MAME 0.151 ROMs;D:\finalburn\FBA\ROMs" <-right

you must remember the command line done not like spaces!

also my i ask why you have two paths to roms for one emulator? I mean why mame and FBA? It just seems redundant. If you want to use them fine..but set up each separate and then "merge" the list. <-- just an idea that's all. :)

Emulators / Re: Open source mame
« on: May 27, 2015, 07:58:01 PM »
No actually MAME's licence was..well MAME's own. Been awhile since i have read it. Guess I need to so I can compare..well as soon as they pick a licence.

They actually do make new..yes new..commercial mame boxes..I think.

Now if it's MAME or not idk...I do know the last one is actually made by namco (namcot) so it's legal %100 I'm sure. I'm guessing it's a board with multiple chips.

General / Any way to hide lists?
« on: May 27, 2015, 09:25:27 AM »
I want to say this has been asked..but I could not find it. Sorry if I made a duplicate thread.

Back in my Windows days I was using MameWah. With it I could "skip" lists. In other words it would not cycle to be seen but it was still there. Normally I used that feature because in the main list nothing could be deleted from it. So I made another "all games" list that was edited to my tastes and then set it up to where the "master list" never showed.

I'd like do that with attract mode. What I am doing is I have my games split by category (e.g. maze, fighting, platform ect.) but the "all games" list cycles right along with them. I would like to hide that list so people can just cycle by category instead.

Emulators / Open source mame *updated*
« on: May 27, 2015, 09:17:24 AM »
So I am sure by now most have you have seen the mame is now open source. While I am sure that there is a looong thread about it on mameworld I just wanted to get your options I guess as I know some of you here.

I don't think a licence has been picked yet. So I guess the future of mame really depends on the license that is used.
But what do you all think? Is it good bad..does it matter to you?

I am not sure what to think yet myself but it could turn out to be a good thing. Now anyone can work on it change it and just (hopefully) make it better. And with MESS being in the code as well what does it mean for mess?

A quarter for you thoughts...or you can just play me in joust instead....

Ok this is what you do. First of all is there any reason that you must run FBA? Now don't get me wrong it's a great emulator (and yes I do use it..thus why this answer) however why use it if MAME will run it?

I did have a problem with an old computer i have not running some games a %100 but FBA ran them just fine. Not want to have two "arcade" lists. I merged them. Here is how:

First I took the games that were going to be run in FBA it it's own folder. (e.g. C:\fba\roms\cps1) Then in FBA I told it where to find my roms.

Next I set it up each game the way I wanted it ,tested it, to make sure it ran. I closed down FBA went to AM and set up FBA in attract mode..tested it there. I closed attract mode.

Then I went into the romlist folder (e.g. C:\attract\romlists) then I made a back up of my mame list then I opened my FBA list and highlighted the entire list (ctrl+a) then I copied it all (ctrl+c).

I opened my MAME list next and pasted the FBA list to the bottom of my mame list (ctrl+v) then I saved my new list. After that i started attractmode and started an "arcade" game one from mame one from FBA.

So now I have one list but when I start the game AM will use the right emulator for it.
