Attract Binary on MacOS just fails silently (mame works fine)

Installed mame and it runs fine.  Downloaded the MacOS binary of Attract and my ROMS are listed.  I select one to start and there is a pause, the screen flashed black for a second then returns to the main menu.  No errors - nothing.

Where to start?
