At-The-Arcade is a new theme that aims at creating an authentic experience of how Arcades where back in the 80's and 90's.
The layout is simple and clean but provides quite a few customization options through the layout menu. Some of it's nicer features are a shader that emulates the lighting effects of glowing CRTs - which is crucial for getting the right 'feel', an animated background of an arcade shop with authentic ambient sound and a cool LED board with a scrolling game title marquee at the top of the arcade cabinet.
Back in the day, being at the Arcade was a great experience and I hope I captured some of it with this theme!
Download of this theme is now available only through The Great Themes Collection page:

Download the random wheel sounds from here and place its folder in your main Attract folder:

Configure-->Controls-->Layout Options = <your button or key>
This directly brings up the layout options. It came out about a year ago.

Thank you.
I was admiring your Arcadeflow_50 theme work the other day. That's some serious coding right there!
I picked up that glow shader when I co-developed Lava theme with Takoni and asahendrix, thought it would be great for a dark arcade shop...

Download the theme again, it should be fixed now. If not, please post a screenshot of what the theme looks like on your device.
BTW, what is your device? Windows, Linux, Pi?

very nice, i'm gonna check out your glow, i was trying to achieve that effect and i did something with bloom and a very small source image but it doesn't quite achieve what i wanted.
I don't have any arcade games here so i dunno if i'll ever end up using your theme but it's so nice i'll keep it around just in case

The "Show weel pointer" option is not working. I am using the current version of AM. I did a fresh install of AM and the problem persists.

I am attaching a new version of the layout.nut file. I think I know what the problem is. Please replace the current layout.nut file within the 'At-The-Arcade' theme folder with this one. Then disable and renable the "Show wheel pointer" option and tell me if it works. Thanks!
EDIT: this fix is now included in the official download in the first post of this thread.

Thank you for the theme, it's awesome!
Could you please tell me the fix for the issue, where the video is not showing at the arcade machine but rather is on the front and fuzzy.

You are welcome!
Wow, this is extremely weird because the theme's script loads the cabinet image ON TOP of the snap video. I suspect that we are looking at a driver or codec issue.
What system are you using? Please give more details.
Also, make sure that these options are set to 'No' in the theme's configure layout menu and see if this problem continues:
Enable snap bloom shader effect
Enable CRT shader effect
Enable CRT screen glow

::)
Ouch, sorry and thank you.
Turning those off did the trick!
System is the latest Retropie with Rasp 3B+.

Hello!
I saw the youtube video-sample and this looks awesome!
I have a RGB modded CRT (Sony 29' FV-310) connected to a PC with groovymame, and i dont know if this would work on it (i think its 480i or so in windows 7)
Have anyone tried this on a CRT?

Hi Folks,
I am putting Attract Mode on my arcade. I am running on x86 Linux (Ubuntu). I installed At-The-Arcade and have it working except for one piece of artwork. I can't figure out how to make the wheel show artwork. I added wheel art to ~/mame/wheel/ and I edited /usr/local/share/attract/default-emulator.cfg and set:
artwork wheel $HOME/[emulator]/wheel
Here is what I see:

Thanks for your help!

You edited the wrong file, that's just a template. You should have edited something like .../attract/emulators/<your_emulator_name>.cfg.
P.S. On Linux it's likely in a hidden folder (one that starts with a "."). Default would be /home/<username>/.attract/emulators/<your_emulator_name>.cfg.

Thanks so much!
On Linux I edited ~/.attract/emulators/mame.cfg
and here is what I put:
artwork marquee $HOME/mame/marquee
artwork snap $HOME/mame/video;$HOME/mame/snap
artwork wheel $HOME/mame/wheel
artwork flyer $HOME/mame/flyer
