General / Re: Using nonblocking mode for individual games in a romlist?
« on: January 01, 2020, 10:27:00 PM »
Let's assume your existing emulator configuration that works for all the windows games but one is called windows.cfg.

Done using a file editor
1. make a copy of /attract/emulators/windows.cfg and call it /attract/emulators/windows2.cfg
2. add this line to /attract/emulators/windows2.cfg (x = the number of seconds of non-blocking delay that is needed)
Code: [Select]
nb_mode_wait         x3. edit /attact/romlists/windows.txt to make the emulator field for the one game that needed this change "windows2" instead of "windows"

OR

Done from inside the Attract-Mode GUI
1. create a new emulator called windows2 with the non-blocking mode delay setting
2. highlight to the game that needs to use this new configuration and press "Escape+Down" (or whatever you have configured in Attract-Mode as the edit game key/button) and change the emulator field to "windows2"

You should now have all your games in one list with one display but the game that didn't work before will now launch with the new windows2.cfg that has the "non-blocking mode delay" configured.

Ah I'm an idiot. Switching the emulator in the game-specific config did the trick. I thought it was just visual for some reason and didn't actually change the emulator parameter. Works like a charm now, thanks a ton!

General / Using nonblocking mode for individual games in a romlist?
« on: January 01, 2020, 07:22:24 PM »
There is one windows game that I have that requires non-blocking mode in order to work properly (otherwise the frontend will continue to run and play audio in the background while the game is running)

Is there any way to apply nonblocking mode to a single game? I checked the specific game configuration but am unsure how to set that as a boot flag. I figured I could create a new emulator with the same settings as the current one and set the game to use that emulator, but I am struggling to set the specific game to use a different emulator. Let me know if this needs further clarifying.

Thanks in advance!

Hey I'm glad to see the emulator get updated, but there's still a huge (at least making the program unusable for me) bug.

Someone opened this issue almost 3 years ago, and it seems like a simple enough bug fix: https://github.com/mickelson/attract/issues/294

Basically, when using a controller (at least tested with wireless xbox 360 andd wireless xbox one), the "exit emulator hotkey" doesn't work. For example I can map the hotkey to activate when I press the start and select button at the same time, but it simply has no effect. Using a key on the keyboard works, but since I want to use attract mode from the couch, the program isn't usable. But with a controller, it doesn't matter if I map it as a button combination or single button, exit hotkeys won't function

I'm sure you're busy but if you could implement this fix, I would really enjoy using this program for my living room system. I already love attract mode on my MAME cabinet! If you need any more details then let me know, I'll be happy to provide them

Yeah I don't have time to get to everything!  I suspect this issue is because SFML can't access joystick state when it isn't the foreground process, but I'm guessing.  The issue you linked is pretty light, could you at least tell me what operating system you are on? thanks

Sorry for the late response, but thanks for the reply! I am on windows 10 (1903 I believe, whatever the current version is as I just reinstalled windows a few days ago)

The way I have gotten around this issue for now is by using a program that someone else linked in another thread called guide call. It's not like joy2key where everything is remapped and you lose some xinput compatibility, it just remaps the xbox guide button to your choice of esc, alt+F4, or something else, but I think that if you would be able to allow us to natively use the attract mode exit hotkey that navigation would be a lot smoother in general! Thanks again and I look forward to the new releases

I'm not sure if you're still looking at these posts, but there's a bug in the widescreen consoles. When using the curved wheel, the snap playbox box gets distorted to a 4:3 box and plays outside of the intended area. I have no idea how to fix this as I don't even know where the position values for video playback are or how they work, but I hope you see this and are able to fix it!

This theme is awesome! Only gripe is that I have some newer systems (like PS3) that I want to use it with. How would I go about adjusting the alloted size of the box art? currently mine is being cut off

Can you attach a screenshot, or maybe one if the box art files you are using? If you can’t attach here send me a pm or an email to Paolo.zago(at)Gmail.com

Also here are the exact pictures I used in the screenshot above:

Thanks for such a speedy response!

Here is an image I'm talking about showing how for example Wii games and PS3 games are cut off:

Hey guys not sure if this is possible but is there any way to get nevato working at a resolution of 744x576? I know it's an odd request but I've been through hell getting my old CRT to play nice with my GPU and render the full screen with no overscan issues. I finally got it working but it's set at that 744x576 resolution. Is there any way someone can tell me how to get it working at this resolution? I've looked into the config files for nevato but I'm totally lost. Thank you all in advance, I really appreciate it
