check to make sure you have the proprietary drivers for your CPU installed.

I've run attractmode on both linux and windows 7 on a p4 with a radeon 7500 vga video card with zero issues.

We are going to need more info about your setup.
What OS
what CPU
What video card.

Composite. Sorry, I mix them up often. Name is so similar. I don't even realize I do it.

just making sure. :)

I'm not familiar with lakka and the forum wasn't working for me.

TerrapinM - it dawned on me, you are on linux. I can install linux on my one laptop with intel graphics 10 times and maybe half those times the graphics will actually work.

Driver's for those chips on linux are not the best.
Nvidia and amd (even open source drivers) run glsl just fine for me most of the time.
not intel on linux.

Unless I'm missing something, the RPI shaders only work with retroarch.  They don't look to be the same format.  Of course, I could missing something.

That I don't know.

core2duo with a 9400 GT will handle some shaders without issue.
I can get basic screen curvature and scan lines working without slow down on most games using lr-mame2003.
yes, the version for rpi.

you can also try a shader made for the raspberry pi.

If you have a pci-e port you could try a 90 degree riser card and mount the video card sideways.
If you have room for the cpu heatsink and fan then you should have room for a horizontal pci-e card.

Hooping OP comes back because i've hit the limit of my current knowledge on dual screens with the RPI.

I hooked up my gert vga 666 to my rpi2 and did some research.
Looks likes the gert will just take the place of the official touchscreen display in op's video when hooked up.

It takes an application with a Dispmanx backend in order to use both screens simultaneously.
I found i can look at console or X on my HDMI monitor and send a video to the vga using.

omxplayer --display 4 video.mp4

I can also send a marquee graphic to the second screen using:
export VC_DISPLAY=4
./pngview -b 2 -l 3 19xx.png
it appears in the center of the screen.

Actually using export VC_DISPLAY=4 will send any dispmanx enabled app to the vga.
Including attractmode while leaving the hdmi a working desktop because it is also dispmanx app.

I'm also reading about a python framework that is dual screen aware / dispmanx called kivy.
it looks like people use it to create touch screen buttons to control other apps.
i'm thinking it can also throw out a simple image on a second screen.

This is what i put into config.txt to make my hdmi screen the default screen and vga second.
The monitor stays in sleep mode until you activate it by telling an app to use it if anyone was curious.

enable_dpi_lcd=1
display_default_lcd=0

what video card do you have and are the drivers properly installed?
Looks to me you either have onboard graphics or no drivers installed because attract is rendering in software instead of hardware.

I have an Arcade VGA card, with his drivers installed, like I said out of AM everything run ok videos and emulators
i don't too much about arcadeVGA other than it provides native res for emulators and arcade games.
Emulators and videos can usually run fine with just cpu power so that would make sense.
what about other windows games or benchmark apps?
Have you tried those to see if it's attractmode or all 3d apps?

This will be somewhat useful.

then find some CRT calibration images on the net.

What model flat screen do you have?
My emerson has some shadowing on berzerk.

I have a phillips and daewoo with component in that seem higher quality so i'll try those just to see but i plan to use vga to component 240p for those anyway.

Need to find a curved 19" TV.
thift store didn't have any.

few months back they had a pile for 5$ and my friends who were moving were dumping them at the curb.
I didn't want them because of composite only in and it gave me a flickering headache with standard 640x480 res.
so it figures i can't find any now. lol

I don’t have a flat screen. Its a 27“ sony trinitron KV-27TS36 with curved screen. Same model I remember my parents buying new back in 1993 at circuit city and I loved it. The only issue I am having is that its geometry needs fixing. Its not noticeable with watching tv, but noticeable with games or things with menus. I guess its a bitch to adjust on these.

Why do you plan on going via to composite? Any benefit?

Try craigslist for a crt. I see people giving them away all the time on there. Many thrift stores will not carry them anymore. Its a shame. :(

You need the remote and access to the service menu.
The emerson TV's i got with only composite in have geometry issues but i'll deal with it for console stuff because they were basically free.
my plan before this happened was to go from vga to YPbPr since i have the stuff to make the cable and the components to do the synching and i think it is going to give me a close to vga quality image.

but may not even need to since this honestly does look real good.
