I'm also trying to figure out how to scrap games descriptions from history.dat file (mame) but I haven't  found a way yet.

- Custom marquee option added.
 
PS. For custom marquee just replace the image "custom.png" (recomended min. dimensions 346x74) located in layout folder.

You can add a rule in display global filter with "title" "does not contain" BIOS.
This will list all roms that does not have BIOS in their title.
You can also add more than one filter value e.g. (NEOGEO)|(BIOS).

Have you tried start minimized option?

EDIT: I've tried it and it still shows the cmd terminal.

Couldn't a GUI version be compiled with a log file for errors?
