Sega CD (I don't think these are going to run well on the Pi)

Here are some examples.

@verion At a guess, if there is demand I'll do it in about a month.

@4p0p02
That should be possible in the next image I'll do.
v4 already works without X11.

That video was for v0.1 image I put together, so the newer one would have this as the emulator config - does yours look like this?

Code: [Select]
# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.0.0
#
executable           /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
args                 0 _SYS_ mame-libretro "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro
romext               .zip
system               Arcade
info_source          thegamesdb.net
import_extras        /home/pi/.attract/mame-config
artwork    flyer           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/flyer
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/wheel

This one is more current:

I'll build one for RetroPie 3.8.1 and Attract Mode 2.1 soon(ish).

You can update this yourselves with this info (that will update the script):
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/updating-retropie

The changelog is everything in here since 3.8.1 was released - the commits are a live view if you like, whereas the releases are a snapshot of the code at that point in time.

@ floobs are you all over this 2.1.0 and 3.8.1 :-)

Haha! Maybe :)
It'll take a while to rebuild, do you think enough people would be interested in the changes between these versions?

That links to HQ videos, you need smaller files / SQ.
Try these

Have you set your memory split? I run a RPi3 and have not had any issues with the shutdown since the first time it happened. Things I changed were.
1. 240p MP4 videos
2. Changed memory split to 512
3. Switched to a Samsung Evo sd card from the Sandisc
Not sure the last one helped with it kicking to the terminal but it boots faster, images write faster and roms etc transfer far faster.

Change memory split to 512, testing and i report the results

AM crashed after 30 minutes screensaver.
All MP4 are 240p SQ
largest vid file is 28Mb
Average size is around 10Mb
Vids were downloaded from EmuMovies

Should i order a Samsung Evo 64Gb SD-card?, price is 22€
I use some sort of Kingston SD-card now.

Those videos sound much larger than I would expect - SQ ones I have a more like 1MB - 2MB

Do you get an error when not using an external hard disk?
I'm also assuming the first thing you do when the image is written is to expand the filesystem?

Are you using the 0.4 image with or without artwork? Do remember AM will not like HD video files.
Do you get any small yellow square in the top right of the screen indicating overheating?

Try this

Code: [Select]
# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.0.0
#
executable           /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
args                 0 _SYS_ n64 "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64
romext               .z64;.n64;.v64;.Z64;.N64;.V64
system               Nintendo 64
info_source          thegamesdb.net
artwork    flyer
artwork    marquee
artwork    snap
artwork    wheel
[size=78%]       [/size]

and confirm the full filename of one of your n64 roms.
I leave N64 out as it can be problematic to get running smoothly with all roms.

@roverius
This may help with how the hotkeys work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBnKFRflEV4

You can either set hotkeys to require an "enable" button first, or to just work by pressing a single button/key.

Most of your .139 set would work with mame2003 or you could build a .078 set from it using the info here https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs. If you're happy with mame2010 don't waste your time unless you really want to bypass the nag screens and/or want to save high score information.

When I say "No Clones" and "Clean List" I'm referring to the filters I'm using in the post above. These are an AM option using the "Filters" to sort your games in various ways.

This is what is annoying.
2003 tanks on altered beast & the goldenaxe games.
two of my favorite time wasters.
imame4all can cover altered beast but goldenaxe has issues.
2010 doesn't do high scores.
I've got mame .172 that almost runs those games on the RPI2 so maybe rpi3 will handle them but what about screen curvature?
That's why i'm using retroarch.

My only other option is forget curvature & just go with scanlines and advmame in framebuffer which seems to handle almost everything.

A shame there isn't a system wide shader for the rpi interface.

You can use the "Arcade" menu in RetroPie to mix and match roms with different emulators if that helps. That way they all live in the same directory.
Dont forget about LR-FBA-Next as its currently on a very new version, although it has less romsets - but very new.
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

Yes, its nice to keep it in retroarch/libretro as you can easily use overlays or shaders that can apply curvature effects.

Good afternoon, I'm from Brazil and I follow the work you guys are really Congratulations !!! The v0.4 version - ( Artwork Version) contains roms and arts mame ? unfortunately mega.nz site does not allow here in Brazil I download a big file like this ( 17GB ) .. is there any other link where that version was hosted ? thank you so much.

No, there are no roms included, just mame artwork. I'm afraid I dont have another host I could use. Does anyone else offer 50GB free space?

I did a test and I wanted to share with you the results.

I tried the image Floob and have noticed that the network is slow and lag. ES restart are slow, almost 3 minutes to just 1000 roms.

I tested the image of Retropie 3.7 and is much faster everything. I put the AM using X Windows and the same image and go very fast.

Now, I have not been able to have AM without X Windows.

Compilations of SFML-pi and Attract Mode makes correctly but then get this message:

Code: [Select]
pi@retropie:~ $ attract
Starting Attract-Mode v2.0.0 (Linux)
Config: /home/pi/.attract/attract.cfg

*** Initializing display: 'MAME 2010'
 - Loaded master romlist 'MAME 2010' in 19 ms (1152 entries kept, 0 discarded)
 - Constructed 2 filters in 15 ms (2304 comparisons)
AL lib: (WW) alc_initconfig: Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
Failed to open X11 display; make sure the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly
Aborted

The only delay I put in is here, and you can take that sleep command out if you want. Its just to get around keyboard issues I had in AM.
/etc/profile.d/10-emulationstation.sh

It boots (on a Pi 2 and 3) in about 20secs or so for me - ES will take longer if you have more roms / large gamelist.xml files.

What happens on my image if you dont have any roms (like a clean 3.7) and take the sleep command out?
