General / Re: Second screen - Dynamic Marquee - RPi4
« on: April 06, 2022, 08:31:04 PM »
Tks to this guide i have managed to make it work: http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=1161.0

Since i am using RPi4 and not windows, the conditions for my 2nd screen work are the following:

RPi4 with X
AttractMode build for X11

Configurations:
Configure> General > Window Mode - Fillscreen
Configure > General > Enable Multiple Monitors - Yes
Configure > Plug-ins > MultiMon > Yes

Click over MultiMon with the second screen connected, will appear more configurations. Mine are the following:
Enabled > Yes
Artwork > Wheel
X > 0
Y > 0
Height > 390
Width > 1280
Preserve aspect > Yes

If this additional configuration dont appear, try again, with the 2nd monitor connected or edit the attract.cfg directly replacing with the following text the multimon plugin config:

plugin   MultiMon
   enabled              yes
   param                mon2_art wheel
   param                mon2_height 390
   param                mon2_preserve_aspect_ratio Yes
   param                mon2_width 1280
   param                mon2_x 0
   param                mon2_y 0

General / Second screen - Dynamic Marquee - RPi4
« on: April 01, 2022, 12:36:27 PM »
Hi,

Anyone knows if it is possible to setup a second display to show dynamic marquee through attractmode on the RPi4?

I have found this one: https://github.com/losernator/PieMarquee2

It is specific for EmulationStation and the marquee is static until you run the game (then the game marquee is shown)

I want that the marquee changes when a new game is selected, not only when you run the game.

I was thinking if a different approach is possible in RPi4 + attractmode: through a plugin or in the layout using the magic token that sends the marquee directly to the second monitor.

I will be glad if anyone could help me with this.

Themes / ArcadeFlix - Theme
« on: October 20, 2021, 05:06:45 PM »
I want to share a theme that i made after i saw one member here post a picture of an attempt to make a theme like Artflix from Alekfull for batocera, but this theme never came to be.

I have struggled a little to find a base theme. I used ioflat theme from iOtero as base, a lot of code from Yaron19 and the visual and some art from Alekfull theme.

The thumbs up is used for favorites. In the right upper side you can change the avatar picture (20 options) and in the right middle there a esrb flag. If there is no esrb information will show "L". The thumbs and background can be changed.

The theme is simple as is my knowledge of coding, but i think it turns out beautiful, anyway, if anyone want to improve or make any suggestions, please, i will be grateful.

There are two themes:

a) For Systems:
https://youtu.be/XjpJElrt6tw
https://mega.nz/file/Go1kCSTQ#ehYl1CZbmgAu3B63AhyYQ1CFuLQMOypQuQFgIEgpK5w

b) For Games:

https://youtu.be/fxZzXP4VDQM
https://mega.nz/file/Po8EFIiB#fGSNUr1lMmPuH5QqHkq1FonNlOdD79GRAIG1XPtYcE4

The themes relies on creating a "flyer" artwork in the emulators config.

The menu theme need to copy some art from /objs/arts/ to /attract/menu-art/flyer for the visual effects.

Thats it

Hope you like.

Themes / New Modified hyperspin.nut
« on: November 08, 2020, 12:53:42 PM »
I am releasing my modified version of the hyperspin.nut loader.
Although  PCCA matrix made the definitive “Hyperspin” layout, his layout only work in PCs, leaving the RPi users behind (at least for now)
So i decided to continue to work in my mod for the hyperspin.nut.

Video: https://youtu.be/-QIpLDyDjGk

What i did:
1) Add “flyer” artwork (with the modification of the background image is possible to make “coinops”style themes). The flyer occupy 50%, right of the screen, under the background. So you can only edit  the background to make a part of it transparent
You can edit the an existing theme or just make  a new one using Hypertheme ( a part of the Hyperspin pack).

2) Add Bezel (the bezel was added “per game” or “system”).To use the per game bezel you will need to create an artwork named “bezel” in the configuration for each system and place the games bezels in that folder.

You can get the games bezels in this link:

https://github.com/thebezelproject?tab=repositories

I have resized the bezels to 1365x768, lower resolutions are better for the RPi

3)  Added Special art for games and main menu

4) Added scrolling text, with game information;

5)  Added more Hyperspin animations (merging similar animations with the existing animations and adapting some).

Obviously is a heavy layout but i hope you enjoy.

 - Installation of the hyperspin.nut (make a backup of the original one first):

 1) You can copy using WinSCP or other similar software to the following folder:
/usr/local/share/attract/loader/

In windows version just copy to the loader folder.

2) You can also copy, using putty, just do the following:
sudo mv /usr/local/share/attract/loader/hyperspin.nut usr/local/share/attract/loader/hyperspin.nut.bkp

sudo nano /usr/local/share/attract/loader/hyperspin.nut
When it opens copy all the contents of the hyperspin.nut (you can open with the notepad) to this putty window pressing the right button in the mouse over the putty screen

The following link is to the folder of the necessary files:

https://mega.nz/folder/r4lE2BLI#J6tQzjkLa2oNrjcZ6T43dA

-attract.zip
a)hyperspin layouts and files needed for hyperspin.nut with the mod to make coinops style
b)romlists (the snes has the esrb and number of players) - careful to not replace your romlists if you dont want to.
 c) scraper - with game info
-emulator.zip – emulators configuration (for RPi  only) dont work with Windows
-hyperspin.nut – the modified file
- snes (flyer and game bezel top place inside roms\snes folder)

General / Re: Default artwork when artwork is missing
« on: October 02, 2020, 07:09:49 AM »
In my raspberry pi it works perfectly, with the artwork inside the roms folder. You should check the name of the display. In my pi the default for snes is >>>> Super Nintendo Entertainment System.png / mega drive is Sega Mega Drive.png, arcade is Arcade.png, exactly as it shows in the displays menu.

Valeu !!

O seus temas também são bem legais!

Abs

Parabéns, eu também criei um tema estilo CoinOps.
O seu ficou muito bonito. Parabéns

Try this one:

# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.6.1
#
executable           G:/Mega Collection AM/emulators/mame 0.196/mame64.exe
args                 "[romfilename]" -skip_gameinfo -nowindow
rompath              G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection
romext               .zip;.chd;.7z
system               Arcade
info_source          listxml
import_extras        G:/Mega Collection AM/catver.ini
exit_hotkey          Escape
artwork    flyer           G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection/flyer
artwork    marquee     G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection/marquee
artwork    snap           G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection/video;G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection/snap
artwork    cover          G:/Mega Collection AM//collections/Outrun Collection/cover
artwork    wheel           G:/Mega Collection AM/collections/Outrun Collection/wheel

One more thing: remake your romlist in the attract menu.

Try to change to something like that:

# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.6.1
#
executable           G:/Mega Collection AM/emulators/mame 0.196/mame64.exe
args                 [name] -skip_gameinfo -nowindow

Themes / Super Nintendo Theme CoinOps Style[MOD from Yaron2019 theme]
« on: September 29, 2020, 04:40:49 AM »
Note:  i updated the download link, because i have changed the background to make the transparency bigger.

Hi

I am modifying some of the Yaron2019 themes (really a great collection) to add some features that I saw in other themes.

Here is the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G93O5NPQB1Y

Needless to say that the i did just a few things so all the credits is for Yaron and the other coders that i might get some of the code to put in the theme.

Said that, my goal was to make the theme look like CoinOps, so my real work was to make a collection of images that change for each game. In total was more than 1200 images, that i renamed manually only for this theme.

Since my goal is to make the theme work in the Rpi, i have changed the original resolution to 1024x768.

I added some other features like:
- scrolling game information;
- font selector
- number of players
- game genre (only an icon to represent)
- ESRB
- system bezel and per game bezel (if you have a game bezel)
- HyperSpin special art - like next, previous, game start and player 1 and 2

I created a huge romlist and fill most of the information (nº of players, genre, etc)

So below the link for the theme contains: the theme itself, the game information and the romlist. CAREFUL because this theme contains a new romlist and will replace the original. If you dont want the romlist  replaced, just extract the layouts and scraper folder.

The second link is for the art, that must be placed in the roms\snes folder

I must remind you that this system relies on the art having the same name of the rom, so if your rom is named diferently, you must let all the files with the same name (renaming the rom is easier)

You  also must add the “flyer” artwork in the emulator configuration, if this configuration did not exists.

Hope you enjoy

General / Re: setting up openbor in attract mode.
« on: August 11, 2020, 01:38:24 PM »
I will tell what worked for me,in my RPi3:

Through putty run the following script (specific for RPi3):

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/crcerror/OpenBOR-63xx-RetroPie-openbeta/master/scriptmodules/openbor-6xxx-RPi3/openbor-v6510-RPi3.sh -O- | tr -d '\r' > /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/ports/openbor-v6510-RPi3.sh

This will install a script in retropie setup, and show OpenBOR 6510 in experimental packages.

Go to the experimental packages and install OpenBOR 6510.

After that you will need to create a cfg fil. So still in putty, type the following:

sudo nano /home/pi/.attract/emulators/OpenBOR.cfg

press enter

Then copy the following text (to paste in putty just press right click in the mouse):

# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.6.1
#
executable           /opt/retropie/ports/openbor-v6510-RPi3/./OpenBOR
args                 "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/
romext               .pak;.PAK
system               OpenBOR
artwork    boxart          /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/boxart
artwork    cartart         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/cartart
artwork    flyer           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/flyer
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/openbor/wheel

Save and exit

You can set different locations, just edit the text above.

Then place the pak files (do not extract then) in the designated folder (in my case /roms/openbor), place the art in the respective folders.

Go to attract mode, press tab, or the button to enter the menu, go to emulators, select OpenBOR, go all the way down and generate romlist.

Then go back to the menu, go to displays and set the theme and filters.

Thats it.

Themes / Re: need some beta testers for a theme

I want to help.  I have a RPi3.

Change window mode to windowed or windowed no border. Then, edit attract.am with appropriate dimensions to test.

Nice job, but I think AttractMode behave differently in windows than in the RPi. I try out your modifications in my 4:3 screen bartop and didnt looked good.
When i set up 4:3 - the theme looked 16:9 with black bars on the top and the bottom, and the theme seems that was pushed to the left and the art looks out of place.
When i set up 16:9 - the theme fills the screen, but the art still looks out of place.
The cartart and box art was really a dilema for me, because, my intention was to place  in a spot where didnt cover the art or the video in any themes, without the need of modification of individually themes.

Look the pictures
