sometimes scraping don't work to some games.
another day it works perfect.

so: try it later, again.

or

get artwork and game info manually:

start AM > press TAB key > Emulators > your_Display > Generate Collection / Rom list

close AM

open your romfolder (e.g. your_AM_folder\your_emulator_system )
notice the name of your romfile : Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.nes => Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

open your artwork folder (e.g. your_AM_folder\scraper\your_emulator_system )

download the artwork from TGDB and  it to the depending folder (flyer, marquee, wheel).

r ename the artworks with your noticed romfile-name => Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.png

open the overview folder (e.g. your_AM_folder\scraper\overview)

c opy one of the existing textfiles and rename it to the noticed romfile-name : Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.txt

c opy the gameinfo text / overview info from TGDB

open the Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.txt and overwrite the copied text from TGDB.

start AM and you get the correct artworks and game info

It's not about images not downloading, really. It's more about the game not being recognized/identified.

You see, you can't name the file "Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers", you need to remove the colon ( : ), so "Disney's Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers". I think I already did this with other games without any issues. And I know some games have alternative names, that's why I keep renaming the file. I just rename the file to "Disney's Chip 'n Dale - Rescue Rangers", but that still didn't work.

Most roms on screenscraper.fr have the name "Chip 'n Dale - Rescue Rangers" without the Disney's prefix, maybe internally even thegamesdb treates it like that?

on earlier posts, you said that you are on Windows 10.

Windows do not support some characters in filenames.
And if Windows process/get this characters from e.g. a textfile too.
colon : is one of them.

So check your romlists

or add it manually:
open your_AM_folder\romlists\your_emulator_display.txt

It looks like this:
Code: [Select]
#Name;Title;Emulator;CloneOf;Year;Manufacturer;Category;Players;Rotation;Control;Status;DisplayCount;DisplayType;AltRomname;AltTitle;Extra;Buttons;Series;Language;Region;Rating
Batman Returns (USA);Batman Returns (USA);SNES;;;Konami;Action, Fighting;1;;;;;;;Batman Returns;;;;;;

the tokens are seperated by semicolon ;

this is a minimal entry in a romlist:
Code: [Select]
#Name;Title;Emulator;CloneOf;Year;Manufacturer;Category;Players;Rotation;Control;Status;DisplayCount;DisplayType;AltRomname;AltTitle;Extra;Buttons;Series;Language;Region;Rating
This-is-the-romfile-name-on-your-harddrive;This-is-the-text-that-you-see-in-AM;Your-Emulator-Display-Name;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

You see, that Name and Title can differ

That didn't work. Thanks anyway.

@hermine.potter
Thanks for the manual romlist edit guide. But if I really have to manually edit the romlist like that, then Attract-mode have failed. I think the best solution is to update the Rescue Rangers entry in thegamesdb, like check if it's using normal characters, or at least give it an "also known as" field like in other games. Or maybe check if attract-mode have an issue with multiple commas ( ' ) if the title contains a colon ( : ).

Attract Mode can not fail here..it is not Attract Mode's fault at all..though I agree with you they should change it in the games db...

but that is not going to happen....

Problem with that is you have way to many system set-ups and OSes out there...along with MANY other factors. I understand your frustration...but it just can not be done an "easy way". That is why there is a way to do it manually...like they say, "if you want something done right..do it yourself"

But just to note with emulation station you can have it find the game correctly in the games db...as you can edit the information that the scraper is matching against. Thus you can look for 'Disney's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers' - fail then look for 'Rescue Rangers' - success. that might be a nice feature to have in Attract Mode (I means something "in your face" to show that that can be done...just a thought"

Scrapers can not be 100% accurate or you would not find anything! Most of these scrapers are run by volunteers..they have lives and other things to do..so that being the case they allow individuals to upload information. That information can be whatever the up loader wants it to say..and more often then not it will not be what you have..that is just the how the hen house is built.

Build your list by paw...err hand if you need to. Attract Mode is way easier to edit then emulation station..it gives you much more control and customization. Once your list is "perfect and to your liking" then it is small and easily backed up.

I am not standing up for attract mode or emulation station or any database site..all I am saying is before you say something as scraping a database of thousands of games and getting 80% back correctly..and consider it a miracle that it even worked..bedside the fact that it cut your workload down and do not have to start from zero...

I'm not angry or anything. I'm just expressing my opinion. I will eventually do it manually if nothing happens in the following months... since this not really a priority or even one my main hobbies. But it would be nice if there's someone here that have a thegamesdb account and enough rank to edit the Chip and Dale entry. Not change the title, since that would conflict with what's already established; but to just add an alternative title (also known as).
