Emulators / Re: The future of emulation
« on: November 27, 2016, 03:34:21 AM »
personally i prefer the way retroarch / mame etc are going, imagine a seperate emulator for every arcade game, without the gui that mame provides for setting up bezels, controls, overlays etc, it would be a complete nightmare...

hi fellas, here's my layout file, it's not finished because i haven't had time to get back to it... the code isn't the best, but it should give you a starter...

Hi Incy,

it can be done, i've been playing with displaying "Displays" as a menu, i've sort of lost my mojo coding it, but i will get back to it.. i think i was pushed in the right direction by the coder of arcade bliss theme...

Themes / Maks Arcade 16x9
« on: June 20, 2016, 08:19:35 AM »
Hi,

i've just spent 2 days porting my theme from RetroFE to Attract Mode, quite seemlessly to be honest.. see attached..

quick question, is it possible to have different music playing when you switch displays, so for instance a playlist with classic Sega music when in a sega display and classic Nintendo music when in a nintendo display?

i'm not really keen on just using left/right to select systems, so i wanna try to do a system select layout, if anyone's got any pointers as to where to start that'd be a great help...

i'll update as i progress

cheers

I agree with you akafox, attract mode is clearly very powerful, with all the scripting/nut/plugin setup, just seems a shame to me that (from what i can tell) you are limited as to how much control you have over nested menus, you are right though, personal preference

100% agree, i think a consistent menu system is important and the way you select your system is just as important as selecting your game, plus my kids use the machine more than me, so the easier it is for them the less headache for me...

I'm guessing you mean like the attached screen. This is my setup on RetroFE..

I've just discovered Attract Mode, and it does everything i could possibly need from a front end, except as far as i can tell set up a system select menu, if i can setup like the screen i have, select a system then go to a game select menu, i'm all in
