If that doesn't fix it, you can schedule your pi to reboot every day at 7:00 am (or whenever you want)...

From the prompt type:

sudo su
crontab -e

Then add this to the end of the file:
0 7 * * * reboot

Then exit and save it.

You might also want to disable the screen saver and see if your pi survives longer without crashing to the prompt. If it continues to crash with the screen saver off, it's probably not being caused by a bad video file. If it still crashes, it's something else - like a memory leak.

Last night some changes were pushed to Attract Mode's source code that fix the cached keypress issue. Maybe we can get a v.6 image that incorporates the fixes.

I went ahead and re-compiled Attract Mode from the update source code and it seems to be working great. My issues playing some of the videos have also disappeared.

it works now. but not with listxml, i try it with listsoftware, and
now the scrabber use the mame.xml

Code: [Select]

#
executable           /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
args                 0 _SYS_ mame-libretro "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro
romext               .zip
system               Arcade
info_source          listsoftware
import_extras        /home/pi/.attract/mame-config/mame.xml
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/whee

Hey guys!

I seen tonite that RetroPi 4.1 was released.  Is there a easy/good way to update Floob's imagine or does it need to wait for a release for some smart people on the AttractMode Side? :)

You can update RetroPie using

EmulationStation-->RetroPie-->RetroPie Setup
1) "S Update RetroPie-Setup Script"
2) "U Update all installed packages"
3) "R Perform Reboot"

You can update Attract-Mode (Display Menu customization and keyboard bug fix) using
Code: [Select]
cd ~
mkdir develop
cd develop
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/mickelson/attract attract
cd attract
make USE_GLES=1
sudo make install
cd ~
rm -r -f develop

Can you post a step by step of how you did it please, this might help others too who want to upgrade..??

Can you upgrade over the top of 2.0 or do you have to use a new image of RetroPie...?

Just exit to the command prompt and type (or copy/paste) the commands that were posted by progets in the post right before yours. Detailed instructions can also be found here: https://github.com/mickelson/attract/wiki/Compiling-on-the-Raspberry-Pi-%28Raspbian-Jessie%29

Note that if you are on a raspberry pi 2 or 3, you can add "-j4" to the lines that contain "make" to speed it up a lot.

Anyone use a ps3 controller with attract mode? I've setup the controller using retropie, works a treat. But when in attractmode it doesn't play nice at all when trying to navigate the menus/systems and Roms. Buttons don't work or if they do they are randomly mapped

Setup using the Bluetooth stack in the driver package.

Hey fellers!

I'm using the latest image and trying to get the libretro mess core installed. I go to retropie setup> manage packages> manage experimental packages> lr-mess> Install from source,  and I get an error message that mess_libretro.so is not found. I've tried this on two different systems both running on the same image. One of them has plenty of SD card space (OVER 10GB) left so I've at least ruled out that possible cause. Here are the logs:

I placed all my mame roms in the Arcade folder.
And pointed all the paths inside mame2003 to the arcade folder, but now when runcommand menu comes up I can't select other mame cores anymore.
How can I fix this?

Many Many thanks for this image file!! :)
I've already used AM in linux with mame emulators and i didn't have this "problem" so i ask here if someone can help me.

I've just placed my rom files in the mame-libretro rom folder, leave the default executable with runcomman.sh , when i select to generate the rom list, it gives me the list of the rom files and not the titles of the game.
What should I do to have the games titles?

thank you so much

In Retropie you are using RetroArch which can't generate the .xml. Use your Linux build to generate the mame.xml file and then copy it to your RetroPie build and point the emulator.cfg/mame.cfg file to it.

example of addition to the emulator.cfg/mame.cfg
Code: [Select]

import_extras        /home/pi/.attract/extras/mame.xml;/home/pi/.attract/extras/catver.ini;/home/pi/.attract/extras/nplayers.ini
