I have a windows 7 laptop that I'm trying to get going so I can have a dedicated portable unit. The videos work great in attract-man and also in the other layouts that came with the a/m download. They do not work with any other layout though. I hear sound but only get a blacked out video or white snow.

which theme doesn't work?
please start AM with console > move to relevant romfile (regarding video file) > check console window
If AM can't play a video, there must be a message like :
Error opening input file: xyz.mp4
ERROR loading video: xyz.mp4

I think it's a problem with the wheel-guided layouts (like Robospin (http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=198.0)).
If you have a game123 and your video and artwork is in AM-scraper folder under flyer (game123.png & game123.mp4) (in my case zsnes : C:\attract\scraper\zsnes\flyer\), it always play the video-file primary.
If you hear all the video files only, it takes the video files from flyer-folder first.
Start AM > Press TAB > Displays > zsnes (in my case) > Layout Options > select spinwheel art : marquee (instead : wheel)
After this, you won't hear the video files more.
If you get white snow, your video files and pictures are not found. Please check correct settings.

The robospin layout get the files this way (after a few seconds, it switch between flyer and snap files on arcade display)

Thanks for the work you put into helping me. I removed all artwork from the scrapper folder and artwork folder and still have the same issue. Is there anything else I could check. Its a older laptop that has been upgraded to 7.
