General / Re: problems with retroarch and sega naomi in the AM
« on: May 08, 2020, 12:33:29 AM »
I've tested the JPN versions of sfz3 and cvs2 but I couldn't get it to work at all. The games wouldn't load in Retroarch. But the US versions work just fine. I never owned a Dreamcast so I'm not sure if something needs to be changed within the core options for JPN games to work properly.

Also, my setup is very different. I'm using Linux (Manjaro) as my operating system and these specific arguments because I had to unzip the files. I couldn't run any games in their .zip folder. So as long as the .gdi matches up exactly with their folder name, I can run all of the games in sub folders.

Emulators / Re: Retroarch

The file directories, emulator and operating system will be different for everyone but here's a rough idea. You can probably add more file extensions under the romext part if the roms aren't compressed.

General / Re: Media files type
« on: April 29, 2020, 07:21:43 PM »
You can keep the media files in .zip/.rar files as part of a collection or backup. But AttractMode supports these files types for your wheels, snaps, marquees, etc. All of this materials comes from emumovies.

- Artwork -
Attract-Mode supports PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP and TGA image formats.

- Video Formats -
Attract-Mode should support any video format supported by FFmpeg (MP4, FLV, AVI, etc).

I must be getting too old to remember this process. Am I missing something? I'm able to generate a list of roms but nothing launches.

Executable usr/bin/retroarch

Command Arguments -L $HOME/.config/retroarch/cores/mesen_libretro.so "[romfilename]"

Rom Path(s) $HOME/Desktop/Games/nes

Themes / Re: Arcadeflow theme v 2.0 [Release] Updated 17 August 2018

My goodness. This theme is so beautiful. This deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for art.

In the future, do you plan to add sounds for video previews? Currently, my 480p mp4 files don't play any sound. Unless I have to use a certain type of video format or enable sound somewhere?

Hey progets. Yes, I tried your suggestion. I also copied/pasted directly from your line in case I missed a letter. It still doesn't work.

When I peak inside the content_history file for Retroarch, I see the following:

This information appears when I use AttractMode with the argument -L cores\mame_libretro.dll "[romfilename]". The / is pointing the wrong direction.

C:\retroarch\rom/[romfilename].zip

C:\retroarch\cores\mame_libretro.dll
MAME

This information appears when I use the Command Prompt. It works just fine.

C:\retroarch\rom\[romfilename].zip

C:\retroarch\cores\mame_libretro.dll
MAME

I can run the game via the Command Prompt.

CD C:
CD Retroarch
retroarch.exe -L cores/mame_libretro.dll C:\retroarch\rom\<name of rom>.zip

So I've changed my argument too...
-L cores\mame_libretro.dll "C:\retroarch\rom\[romfilename]"

It doesn't work unless I'm still missing something?

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, I can't launch any of my Mame games via AttractMode. Clicking on the game does nothing. No error messages. It doesn't launch.

- I'm using the latest version of AttractMode v2.4.1.
- The games run perfectly on the latest version of RetroArch v1.7.3 with the latest Mame core v.200.
- The games do show up in the recent playlist within RetroArch.
- I've re-checked the file directories and they are correct.
- I've also turned off my virus scanner, in case it tried to block anything.

Am I missing an additional argument or pathway?

General / Saving Game Edits
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:53:35 PM »
Hey peeps,

Currently, I'm using the Flat_Blue theme and it's fantastic. I'm manually editing a few console games, just to add the year or manufacturer. I usually do this by pushing ESC and Down. However, the settings will be erased when I generate a new rom list each time. Mame works fine and I don't have to edit anything. But for other emulators like Mednafen, how can I permanently save the game information?

General / Re: Duplicate Entries - Filter Grid Layout
« on: September 25, 2016, 09:39:39 PM »
Hello Again,

I found the solution! I just modified the mame.ini file and added a separate directory for the CHD folders. Now, the layout Filter Grid displays a list of correctly named games.   ;D

General / Duplicate Entries - Filter Grid Layout
« on: September 23, 2016, 10:22:59 PM »
Hello,

Currently, I'm using the layout Filter Grid. It's very pretty since I can use tags and organize all my games into specific genres. I have several genres like Puzzle, Run and Gun, Fighting, Sports, Beat'em Up, Puzzle and lastly, Other. Other contains all my non-tag games.

While using this layout, I've noticed duplicate names for games that include CHD folders. For example (this is completely made up), Kitty Farts would have the name:

kittyf
Kitty Farts: Championship Edition

I can easily hide the kittyf name by using a "Quarantine Tag". However, I can't organize the name, Kitty Farts: Championship Edition, into the Fighting genre. The tag just disappears once I exit AttractMode and it's put back into the Other genre.

Any advice on what I could do to keep the nice name, with the correct tag? The remaining games, without any CHD folders, are just fine.  :'(
