General / Proper aspect ratio on 21:9 screen?
« on: March 26, 2019, 09:10:43 PM »
I've started using a 21:9 display and noticed AM just stretches across the entire screen instead of taking up a 16:9 area.

Is there some setting that would let me get proper aspect ratio? I looked but haven't found anything yet.

General / Arpicade owners: I need some advice on what to get
« on: September 08, 2018, 08:47:05 AM »
I believe several people here are using an Arpicade board in a cabinet. I have a Jamma cab and am looking to buy an Arpicade for it.

I'm in the USA, and looking at https://www.highscoresaves.com/arpicade-raspberry-pi-multicade-jamma-pcb-adaptor-for-arcade-multigame.html?options=cart&product_type=simple

So, the base unit is $139, and I also need a Pi so I'd get that with it. The next couple of items I'm not sure about.

My cab is an oldschool vertical Midway style, not fighting game, so I guess I don't need the kick harness or extra pins, BUT do you think it would be a good idea to get them now in case I want them in the future?

Then comes the SD card -- I have several big SD cards I could use, but being a total newbie to Raspberry PI, Linux and Arpicade, so I was thinking to get the vertical SD card from them for $40. But, I keep seeing people talk about downloading "images" fort the Arpicade, so maybe I don't need to buy the pre-installed SD card and can just use one I have. Question is, as a newbie would that be a frustrating way to begin?

Thank you very much for any opinions you can offer.

General / How to run bat and/or VBS files from AM?
« on: February 28, 2018, 02:15:47 PM »
I want to launch a bat or vbs files from attractmode using the rom name as the file name, but so far can't get it to work.

Basically, it's for Demul, and I want to use a batch file to change the demul.ini to set a different Naomi BIOS depending on the game. Demul itself doesn't have commands to do that, so you have to use a batch file.

So for example, let's say I want to run Cannon Spike using the USA BIOS. I already have a batch file working that switches the ini to the USA BIOS and then runs the game. It works great. The bat file is named "cspike.bat" after the rom name.

So, how can I get AM to run the bat file using the rom name? I tried all sorts of things and nothing happens.  :o

Thanks for any help.

General / Demul does not work with AM, or does it?!
« on: February 13, 2018, 06:27:56 PM »
OK, I just spent several hours trying EVERYTHING and looking at dozens of old threads trying to get Demul to run a game from AM. Nothing works!

I'm using the latest AM, and the latest Demul build (.07 111117).

I can run Demul games direct from Demul, no problem. I can launch Demul games from a command line (i.e. demul.exe -run=awave -rom=dolphin).

But nothing I try runs a game from AM. What I get is the demul game selector Window for whatever system I'm trying to run (i.e. awave, naomi, dc etc.), instead of the specified rom/image running.

PLEASE, if you can actually run Demul games from AM, I beg you... please share your voodoo! :o

General / Hourglass in lower right corner during game load?
« on: January 09, 2018, 03:45:52 AM »
Hi, new user here. Love Attract Mode and happy I found it. I am using it on Windows 10, with the Silky theme, and so far only running MAME (latest version).

But, one thing I noticed is when I run a game, part of the Windows mouse cursor hour glass shows at the lower right corner of my screen as the game loads.

Is there a way to make that not happen? Thank you.
