General / How to view enlarged snaps in Attract Mode

I've seen in some themes people allow the viewing of the snap enlarged, I don't know how they did it but I saw creators display this in their youtube trailers to demonstrate the themes.

Anyone know what button press enables this? I was also wondering if this is theme dependent or universal accross Attract Mode, and if it is universal is it possible to do this with flyers as well? On a crt sometimes flyers are hard to see and it would be awesome to be able to see them enlarged with the press of a button.

General / How to add a sorting option based on tag list order

Is such a thing possible?

One example I have is that I've been wanting to sort CPS, CPS2, CPS3 games by their exact release date, the best I can do is by year but then it sorts the same year games by alphabetical order. I'd like to have them numbered based on their entry in Capcom's catalog. Is there a way to do so?

General / Suddenly snaps are slowing down Attract Mode to a crawl

Everything was running so well, and then suddenly after powering up today I find Attract Mode is like a snail, every up or down I press on the games list freezes the picture for some 3~5 seconds before moving to the next game. Even the escape key takes seconds to react. After multiple reinstalls and moving my backed up files back in place, I found the problem was the snap videos. Even with a single video if I scroll over the game with the video it will act that way. Without them everything moves smoothly as always.

I run Windows 7 64bit on a newly built Groovymame pc to crt, so all components are just a few weeks old. 
Video card is an HD6450 and the processor is an i3 7350k with 8gb ram.

Games work fine when launched, nothing out of the ordinary.

There is no other software installed other than Attract Mode and Groovymame. The last thing I did was unplug the mouse from the front and plug it in the back on one of the two original plain usb ports. I have since moved it back to the front but I don't know if that is the cause.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

General / How and where to change a games "genre"

Where can I see what a game has as a genre class, for now all games are "unknown" and I would like to manually put in the genre but have no idea which file this goes into. I was thinking romlist but I see a "category" column which seems to have nothing in it.

Scripting / Help making a modification to the theme Silky for personal use

Hello,

I'm trying to make a few tweaks to the theme called Silky by Oomek. I really love this theme, but there are a few tweaks I would like to implement such as being able to keep the flyer aspect ratio. I also would like to bring in the text at the bottom (bring it up) and the texts at the top (bringing them down a bit) so that they may fit on a crt with overscan.

So for the aspect ratio I took the lines of code straight out of Gamestation and added in

At the very top>

I also removed the semi colons since it seems to not be in Oomek's style so I didn't want to disrupt anything. Here's the saved .nut that goes into the Silky folder with the edits above.


It appears to work for now, at least at keeping the aspect ratio true to the original png's, but is this the proper approach to doing so?


Now secondly how can I bring in the texts at the top and bottom a bit so that they may always be visible on a crt?

General / How to edit newly created filters

So I've figured out how to add favorites and how to access the favorite tabs (using next filter or view filter list key in controls iirc), but even after adding a few games to favorites I can't find where these get stored on the computer for easier editing by notepad.

I also have no idea how to add games to other filters.

Emulators / Not working on crt (when booting Attract mode the video flies around)

Hello,

I might have made the mistake of configuring Attract Mode when the PC was still hooked up to an lcd, and now that I'm on a CRT I seem to be unable to open attract mame. What can I do to fix this?

General / Artworks aka flyers not displaying

I have this weird problem in my latest install where artworks no longer display. The snaps videos play fine and all the files are in their proper folders yet instead I get a no image available message. I'm using Windows 7 pro.

General / How to get MAME names displayed properly in Attract Mode

Hello all,

When i first installed Attract Mode on my PC I was able to get all Mame games to display their proper names and not the .zip extensions, and it also skipped all the bios files so i didnt have stuff like neogeo.zip as a game entry, however on subsequent installs I just can't get that to happen anymore, so i always have all the files names and all the bios files listed as well.

I'm a new user here but I saw on the official site of Attract Mode there were a bunch of sample themes shown, anyone know what these are called circled in red? They look amazing.
