Title: HyperPie2 Theme [V2 Released]
Post by: calle81 on January 08, 2018, 10:24:00 AM
HyperPie2 Themes V2

Updated again with drop shadow and glow behind snap options. https://mega.nz/#!KF0C0SiR!WOmTzlAYqIUrkNtTeU6l8FAJQ1uBnqY7fgQj22klSWI
Here's a pack of modules needed for this theme. Drop the folder in the zip file straight into the attract folder: https://mega.nz/#!2McxhCpC!_vVPWFp-LjHH7Q-XZx1V66UkrGEEbYgLmdo779qxJ4A

------------------------------------------------

Now with "ambiance" as background option thanks to zpaolo11x. Make sure you get version 2.4.1 from the Attract Mode website as well. Delete the old HP2 theme folders before extracting these folders into attract\layouts

This version also allows per display layout options meaning all layout options can be set differently for different displays. Like you probably don't want cart art for arcade based systems and so on.

There's also a background option named per display which will show a background matching the selected system in most cases.

The best way to customize your layouts is to assign a button to "Layout Options" in the AM settings. This is a new feature for AM 2.4 and pressing that button will take you directly to the layout options which now can be set independently of other displays.

Oh, and btw you can select which HP2 layout you want in the layout options now so you can replace the "toggle layout" button with "layout options" instead. The selected view is stored in the attract.am file so make sure to keep a backup of that file when you have setup AM the way you want it.

Ambiance demo: https://youtu.be/1hAlmL49phM

https://youtu.be/Y-ii-i505mg

--------------------------------------------------------------

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM8xZ6CbyMiLrokOQwfWl6Q

You set the hp2-main-menu layout to the "displays menu", hp2-sub-menu to all sub menus if you have sub menus configured, hp2-arcade-menu to all arcade systems that don't have cart art and finally hp2-systems-menu to everything else. Read the startup tutorial carefully and don't forget to set a button to "Toggle layout" to switch between the different views.

You can set your screen ratio to either 16:9 or 4:3 in the display options for each theme and you can also select between PC or RPi for better timed animations depending on what hardware you run on.

This zip doesn't include  the game descriptions. You can get them here https://mega.nz/#!3MkWwbTJ!emOUuFeGLy9NosR7qk-j16JzkSOGE4Zp3xv60sIYlsQ. Drop these in your romlist folder.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

Thanks! The easiest way to get this theme will be by getting the HP2 image when it's out if you have a pi.  That way you will get all the menu flyers (made by Dwayne Hurst), the main and sub menu setup, all the new videos (by Eddy Smith), the silver ring wheels, all modules needed etc. It comes with no roms but has romlist pre-configured that follow the Hyperspin naming so it's really easy to setup. It will also have a theme downloader script, built in attract mode upgrade script and a way to switch between a flat menu structure and the main/sub/system structure. It's a really nice base to start off with.

I will of course upload the themes to github but then you will have to get a hold of all the media to make it look nice :)

Attractmode layouts/plug-ins/modules are platform independent. When people say things are for the pi, they usually mean that it’s optimized for a device that might not have the resources a normal PC has.

Yup, there will be an HPPC2 release with more systems supported. Comes with AttractMode, emulators and Rocketlauncher preconfigured with media and romlists (but no roms).

Love it.
Silky Theme was always my favorite (stunning work Oomek), I just wish it incorporated cover and box art. I tried implementing myself, problem being I suck at this. This is great though.

Looking forward to the release for PC!

There's a bunch more you need like modified modules and artwork in other directories. The github is not updated either. I will package everything up eventually but right now we are helping those who installed the complete package and my time is a bit limited :).

Added this view to the theme with marque support. (Note the flicker effect behind it ;) )

Drop the files in the hp2-systems-menu folder. It contain to new views. One with listbox and one with a vertical wheel as demonstrated in the video. Use the toggle layout button to switch between them.

HP2-Systems-Menu and HP2-Arcade-Menu have some problem with on_tick video_playing ! check please.

*FUNCTION [on_tick()] E:\ATTRACT_MODE_PORTABLE\[-] ATTRACT_MODE [-]\layouts/HP2-Arcade-Menu/layout.nut line [431]

Script Error in tick function: on_tick - the index 'video_playing' does not exist

//{
//    gtime = ttime;
//    if (art_flag && (ttime - last_nav > 600))  //400ms delay

The old one with  // , work better and stretch the video.

The new one "preserve_aspect_ratio" does not work.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you describe in more detail the problem you get and maybe post a screenshot? Everything works as it should for me. Commenting out that section breaks the art load delay feature so makes no sense. Just disable art load delay in the layout options instead and it wont be used.

Edit: Sorry. Didn't see your youtube video at first. I'm not sure whats going on there. Looks as if you have changed the size of the video frame? Are you using "hp2-systems-menu" theme and the layout.nut i posted?

Calle81, you're always on top of things and add the latest cool features to your HP2 layout. If there were an award for most layout options, HP2 would win it. Sometimes this can be a double edged sword, advance AM users have no problems but newer AM users might be confused or overwhelmed with all the layout.nut files and options. Maybe consider a ReadMe.txt or instructions for less advance and newer users.

P.S. I'm surprised you don't have onscreen controller navigation options... you have everything else. LOL. I'm only kidding but if you do want them, they do exist. (PM me or search older layouts on forum if you have interest)

Keep up the great work!

Agreed. I was rather overwhelmed with all of the options on this theme and a bit confused too. However, it's an amazing theme! ;D

Yeah I know. Instructions are long overdue. As it is now it's a bit of a mess since this has been the theme I learned from. As soon as I want to try something new i expand the layout options available and rewriting the options (which is really needed to make it easy to use) would be a major headache. There are many nut files to edit and things that might break. I also don't want to turn this into "work". With three  kids I'm happy to have a few occasional hour when the rest of family is asleep to tinker with this stuff :)

With that said I'm glad you like the theme and I'm here to answer any questions.

Hey I couldn’t get the descriptions to work :(
Theme is great! I disabled the startup intro and noticed that it takes abit of time to startup.
What can cause the lag? I open attract more.. white screen for a few seconds then goes to main menu. With other themes it doesn’t do it, i love this theme, it’s to nice to let go.

Hi Steven, never seen or heard of a white screen problem before. Are you running PC? Which background option do you have for the main menu?

If you upgrade AM to 2.4 you need to replace the game description files. Delete all sub folders in attract/romlist and drop the contents of this zip file into the attract folder. https://mega.nz/#!2AkkAYbI!7VigZqYOb5Ab8S9mLrs6ds52gTM2Y2c9If15vA8L0Y8

Do I have to take them out of the folders h put them in?
Do The names of your files have to match the rom files?
Yes I’m on pc. The white screen is like - or 2 secs as it loads the intro

Hi Steven,

You need to download the descriptions files again from the link i posted. They are now .txt files instead of .cfg. Delete the sub folders with the old description in the romlist folder and just drop the contents of the zip file i linked earlier so that you get the scraper folder inside the attract folder.

Show a screen shot of where you are missing the clock and I'll take a look.

Cheers

Hi, not sure why the layout looks like it does on your setup. It's supposed to look like this if you use the horizontal menu and have clock set to on. What resolution are you running? You are missing the title etc.

Stephen, try this one. I added the small clock icon. The numbers should already have been visible (looks way cramped to me with the clock on for the horizontal wheel style, but each to his own). Tried on 4k and 1080P resolution monitors.

System name has never been visible in the systems menu theme, only the systems logo.
At the top of the screen you should also have your filters. Looks like you don't have any filters configured?

reinstalled your theme from scratch

turning these options on off dont do anything...

Nope, doesn't fit when the filters are on top.

We have a couple of thousands users and never heard of theses issues. Maybe you should try and get the project hyperpie download instead for a fully configured setup. Download it from arcade punks.

It could be that your missing a module. Try and drop this folder in your attract folder

Hey calle81

Is it normal that some displays take longer to open, for example when I launch am it goes to main menu, then when I open a console it takes about 5 secs to open... just wondering! Thanks for the feedback.

Probably depends the size of the images you use for boxart etc. I dont have any problems myself so try and optimize them. Flat images without transparency can be converted to jpg.

Man, this is great! Thanks so much. I have this running beautifully on my Linux PC setup.

Couple questions:

1. On your YouTube video, it shows the "Game Description" fading after a short time. This is not working on my setup. The info comes up, but never goes away and I'm not seeing a setting to change it. Maybe you know what I might be missing.
2. The "Display Menu" fades to fullscreen fine when set to "Snap" even though I'm using video themes. However, "Fade to Fullscreen" does not work at all on the Systems Theme, regardless if they are set to "Snap" or "Video Theme"

The rest is coming along nicely!

After replacing all my old layouts in /.attract I no longer have a cabinet in the arcade displays for the snaps to play on.  They are just centered.  Is there a way to get this back? I really liked how it looked.

Try toggling through the different layouts with the button you have set to "toggle layout" and see if that solves the problem

no good.  I had already tried that.  It seems as though their is less layouts now then in the initial pie image.  I'm stumped.

The theme itself is posted on the first page of this thread. All Attract Mode systems can run the same themes. If you want the videos i suggest you download the Hyperpie PC package from here: https://www.hyperpie.org/windows/  and rip whatever you need from it.

My question is kinda odd... and I don't know if someone knows it...
I'm using this theme, and it works perfect, but what I want to know is... there's the videos that showcase the systems + arcade + handhelds and so on...
And there's 2 videos of handhelds of which I really dig the music used in them and I want to know which songs they are..
The 2 videos are: SEGA Game Gear and Bandai Wonderswan Color..

I'd like to know the songs used in the videos of those

Where is the "hp2-arcade-menu," It's not included in the mega?

It's not needed. HP2-Sub-menu should be used for Consoles, Arcades, Handhelds etc.

Thanks for the theme. I love it. I'm using Silky for my NES; and I'm trying to use HP2 for SNES because Silky stretches the game's box art to portrait.
I try to make it look like Silky, by removing the cart art on the left side, but it still leaves an empty space on the left side instead of the video panel obtaining that space.
