Request: convert Retrorama theme (Retropie) to Attract Mode
« on: November 14, 2017, 10:06:22 AM »
Fellow frontend enthusiasts,

I have found the layout of my dreams; it is called Retrorama and it looks like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpTkEPcI0rI

Problem is, it's a layout for Retropie. I've really gotten used to Attract Mode and I think it would be an amazing addition to it. Would anybody with the necessary Squirrel skills like to have a shot at converting it to AM?

Also, please note that...

1. I have sent the author an e-mail asking for permission, and he is absolutely fine with converting it to AM and making it available to the public (I can send you his reply via email if you want proof).

2. all the necessary artwork and files can be found here: https://github.com/lipebello/es-theme-Retrorama

Right, thanks a bunch!!

Nice. I know AM can easy to do game list by current module. But as you known, the position of game name pointer is static locate in center only. I really hope some can make the list like as grid (the pointer can move when selection moving ).

 :)

I can do that. I just don't have time. But it can be done. It's pretty much the same thing i already made, just with text objects instead of artwork.

Good to see it's coming along nicely! You're quick, mate!

You mentioned that it's a rough version so I shouldn't comment, but you think it would be possible to do one version with the original listbox? I'm really enjoying the simple layout with the Comic book fond...

Another question, though: Where do you get the descriptions for the games (which are displayed in the lower box on the right)?

Looks pretty good! It would be nice if the box art was a little bigger, as it looks like a tiny spec on the screen at the moment  ;D However, the overall look of the theme is great!

when it comes to the list,  my hands are tied no one has come out with the way to do the
exact kind of list  "Yet" that is,     and when they do ill implement it in,

as for what ill put in will be a great temp,  using ArcadeBliss, wheel module.
what i have posted is using his "ch.Artwork_or_Text"
when i switch to the "ch.Text"  im not getting the full results that i need,
when he looks at it , and all is good i will then switch it to that....then release a full
theme of it ...

 :)

and yes the box art is slowly getting bigger...

Finish the rest of the theme and I'll see what I can do to create a module for it. I been working a lot, but took some pto after thanksgiving. Theme is looking excellent! Does it support vga 4:3?

You got it dude. If you want, create separate text objects and image next to each one for the pointer. I can create module and use your layout to test.

Create a text object for each entry shown in the "game list". Each slot can have dummy text for now.

The pointer is an image that shows up next to each entry in the game list. Create these images.

All images will be shown, and text will be incorrect for obvious reasons. I take care of the logic to turn on, off, and fill will appropriate text.
