Updating Attract Mode from Emulation Station's config AND attempted via SSH by Youtube tutorials all result the same way for me. When I boot now, i get only a black screen and I hear the one music chime.  If I hit CONTROL+C I can sometimes see repeating text of "Failed to create texture, invalid size (0x0)."  I have also caught glimpse of text prior to that barking about attract.cfg - something about valid options for layout (valid options include basic, general, etc.)

I have only found documentation of this issue online about the Odroid + windows PC builds with graphics incompatibility but nothing on the Pi requiring a different solution.  Has anyone else found a fix for this?  I'd rather not redo my build nor lose the ability to update.  Thanks

This should help you since you're using the RetroPie install https://github.com/mickelson/attract/issues/382 & https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/2193

Thanks- that is a huge step in the right direction!  However, do you know where the file attractmode.sh is located to edit that one field?

The path is /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary but I don't think this works any more. You can look at this https://github.com/mickelson/attract/issues/385

I'm getting the same segmentation fault error.

The RetroPie Setup menu build of AM is now working properly. These changes are recent so make sure you update everything.

Whether I do this through the RetroPie Setup or manually it still gives me the same segmentation fault trying to load. I wonder if I've corrupted some data somewhere and that is why it still won't work, anyway I can do a proper fresh install of Attract Mode without doing a fresh install of the whole thing?

I did the fix to the .sh file. Still didn't fix the issue. I do have sound. Very odd. Any ideas? Thanks!
