C.H.I.P. $9 computer and Attract mode
« on: February 17, 2016, 06:53:30 AM »
I got my chip yesterday.
SFML 2.1 is part of the distro it comes with and AM seems to compile fine and run also.
so does the latest update of advanced mame.
Only issue is they don't have hardware acceleration built into the kernel yet so it's dog slow.

It's supposed to be coming "soon" but when is anybody's guess.
So this may be another option for a mini computer to run attractmode on.

I have a pine coming also.
The thing with these mini-PC's is they are cool to tinker with but it's a gamble on what happens with them once their out in the wild.
But, they are cheap so I don't mind too much.

Waiting for rpi zero's to be available again.

I'm waiting for the pi zero to be back in stock and then hoping i'm somewhere that I can order it before it gets sold out again.

so maybe by summer when they catch up to the demand i'll get one. :)

As long as it has hardware acceleration for the video i'd be interested.
These arm SOC's have android drivers but the linux drivers lag behind.

Yeah, I've heard about some of the driver issues. Yet, the fact that ubuntu and other linux distros are supported gives me hope. This board could essentially replace your desktop for nominal price and be a sweet addition to an arcade build.
