@Floob

I've just bought RPi3 and I'm planning to try your image, but I would like to wait for next version (without emulation station) if you are planning to release it within a few weeks. Please let me know.

Great!  So I'll wait.
I have to whip up a nice RPi arcade box for my 2-weeks vacation in august (in case of bad weather).

It would be great to have Retropie 4.0 with Attract 2.1...  ;)

You can easily do this yourself. Just create the a new emulator with the following information...

TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine
Code: [Select]
# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.0.0
#
executable           /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
args                 0 _SYS_ pcengine "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine
romext               .pce
system               TurboGrafx 16
info_source          thegamesdb.net
artwork    flyer           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/flyer
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/wheel

Sega CD (I don't think these are going to run well on the Pi)
Code: [Select]
# Generated by Attract-Mode v2.0.0
#
executable           /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh
args                 0 _SYS_ segacd "[romfilename]"
rompath              /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/segacd
romext               .bin
system               Sega CD
info_source          thegamesdb.net
artwork    flyer           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/segacd/flyer
artwork    marquee         /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/segacd/marquee
artwork    snap            /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/segacd/snap
artwork    wheel           /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/segacd/wheel

I stand corrected. I had a RetroPie build with many "experimental" systems on it a while ago and know that 3D0, Dreamcast and Jaguar didn't run that great. I thought Sega CD was in that mix too. I know Dreamcast has gotten much better since then and maybe some others have too. I also think it was on a Pi2 because the Pi3 wasn't out yet.

I think we still need more horse power,

like new amlogic s912 quad core 2ghz and its GPU Mali-820MP3 @ 750MHz+

Which I hope Odroid will release soon because at the moment the Odroid c2  gpu is only Maliā„¢-450 GPU

Has anyone set up attract mode for a cocktail cabinet?
For cocktail the tv screen is vertical
I know in options u can change display and rotate so menu appears vertical

Is there a way to get this working on mame?
Do you have to use a particular mame? Is any tv/monitor going to work or you have to get a certain kind? I go to options on mame the flip option works fine but stays the same. Even when switched to cocktail it doesn't rotate

To use a usb drive we need to edit a file in emulationstation and change the paths for attract emulator configs.

So, here's what we do. Edit the /etc/emulationstation/es_systems file and change the system paths that you want to use a usb drive. Example, for the mame system, change this line.

 <path>/media/usb0/roms/mame</path>

Now, when you boot into emulationstation to configure your emulators it should scan the new rom path on the usb drive.

When I boot in and try to edit I'm getting denied due to rights.  What's the syntax for editing that es_systems.cfg file?

use this command
Code: [Select]
sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
