General / Re: Wich version of MAME roms pack for AM?
« on: August 26, 2022, 10:41:57 AM »
Tom,

It is never a good thing to link to rom websites as emulation is a very grey area between legal and illegal. You are literally bordering on piracy for most of emulation, especially following that link.

The N company have shut down a lot of websites that contain their copyrighted material, a few clicks and you can see N roms available for download.

A website such as this even though it is just a front end can potentially be shut down, or fined for members sharing links to what they will class as pirated material.

Any material that is still making money their copyright will be upheld.

It does not matter what rom versions you use, AM is just a front end it loads up which ever emulator you tell it to.

So you just need to worry about what MAME version and rom sets you are using.

Hi Vindass,

To answer your questions in full

1) 4 x 3 version - I don't really do a lot on emulation at the moment, I have been having a lot of time off after I moved homes, and I have been enjoying the Summer rather than living life on a computer all the time. I think that I have a 4:3 monitor but it would be easy enough to resize it.

You just need to find the nut file, resize it to what you wish, I cannot remember what 4:3 is maybe 800 x 600 ?? You can turn the logo and everything else off as it is all controlled in the settings.

If I ever turn on my arcade PC I will have a look but I cannot promise anything. So treat it as a no at the moment, as I don't want to say I will do something and twelve months later I have not done it.

You are talking gibberish to me and to other people who have not used whatever you are talking about lol

You saying about the interface etc etc, is like me saying about an interface for British TV that if you are in another Country, you might never see.

You really need to show a picture, and not assume that EVERYONE will know or understand what you mean.

As for 512mb, as I say give it a try and see what happens, however I would not consider using it based on my experience, even 8 gigs stalls it at times, but then I am more of a heavy user than wanting something light.

A wise man once said, well actually I am typing it

It is better to learn from experience and become wise, rather than ask a fool a question, and becoming a fool themselves.

If you have the equipment, just give it a go, if you do not have the equipment but was thinking about buying it, then that is different.

if you could include a screen shot of what you mean that is always handy. You have to remember that some people such as myself might never have seen or tried that program, so have no clue about what you mean.

Hopefully, someone else might be able to help you as they have used that program before, or can work out what you mean from your text, however without a screen shot, I do not have a clue.

Yep for Western stuff it looks rubbish lol

I am glad that you included Animaniacs, I did see the He Man thumbnail as well. It just looked totally rubbish when it played Western stuff, well it looked ok.

However. when it went back to Jap/Manga stuff it felt like an old friend returning. Your skins are 9/10 fantastic for Manga stuff, but they just don't seem to have the same magic playing Western stuff.

I honestly would build a PC just for Manga stuff and have your skins as pride of place.

Please do not change your style, Jedione is the mad Western Genius and you are the Manga King.

As the saying goes, East is East and West is West, never shall the twain meet. Yes that saying kind of sounds silly in today's society with internet etc. However, these skins kind of show that they are better for Manga than the West.

It is official

Please do two videos.

1) For Japan/Manga stuff
2) For Western stuff

I love your work, but unless you have 1, then 2 looks rubbish to be honest.

I am in my new home now, so I am slowly getting through things, so in the end I want to get everything up and running.

I have a 32 inch touch screen monitor that I was using as a jukebox, and I have various computer bits and bobs. So I would love to use this.

I might even have a dedicated channel just for Japan/Manga stuff as your skins look cool as hell as I say when it is Manga stuff.

Thanks now working, I was using videos I already had and all of them are not named to be use in Attrack Mode frontend, so now Im downloading from Emumovies so the names are correct

Just to give you a heads up from my experience. When I was downloading the HD versions from Emu I was getting slow downs in AM, for me HQ worked a lot better.

If you are on a slightly older PC this might be an issue, but I think that someone who had an older PC than I did had no issues with HD versions, but he did have problems with HQ.

I do not have to recode the emu movies stuff, but if I download from YT then I recode to a much lower resolution. I had them around 570k I think and they still looked good on a 4K TV.

You are a mad genius that is for sure, obviously this is just a testing phase and final graphics and stuff later.

It is not my kind of thing, I prefer my cabinets or something like your other skin demo the one that looks like Nesica that is it. I am just trying to think what I hate more, lists or wheels, I might have to say wheels as list is more uniform.

I thought that I would pop on while I am still here, was supposed to be moving this weekend, but that is cancelled now just a waiting game with near enough everything in boxes, no broadband so having to use a mobile phone sim card router that I brought ages ago.

The place has possibly been quieter without me but hope you and everyone else is doing well.

You should learn to type in English and type like a grown up.

However, nice to finally see a picture of what you are talking about, however it looks pretty ordinary and boring to me.

If you are happy with it, and other people are happy with it, then that is all that matters.

Oh and P.S I am not your brother, sister, mother, father, daughter, son

General / Re: Adding game info for emulators that are not MAME
« on: April 17, 2022, 10:25:46 AM »
I experimented with this a while back.

I was adding these titles to the catver.ini by hand, but the process will take too long. I believed that it worked, but has been a while since I done that and it was on my test build that I started months ago when I first started using AM,

Hopefully Progets or someone else will be able to advise you as well.

Ah I remembered what I was doing.

I added the games to catver.ini and then I was using the additional info to point to the catver.ini

So Dreamcast games to the Catver.ini and then importing that to the dreamcast

I think that actually worked.

Emulators / Re: Xemu setup help
« on: April 14, 2022, 01:04:45 AM »
To get something working in AM you need to have the program that runs cli commands

Here is Xemu CLI https://xemu.app/docs/cli/

-full-screen   Launch in full screen
-dvd_path <iso>   Load disc image <iso>
-snapshot   Discard any writes to the HDD image after exit
-config_path <config>   Use <config> as config file (usually xemu.ini)

So your args would have to be made up of those especially the load disc image.

It would take a bit of messing around with to get working, but it should be workable.

General / Re: snes9x-x64 emulator opening, but not roms
« on: April 12, 2022, 09:46:16 AM »
I am not sure if you done typo's or not

Your rom ext's you have

.smc; SPACE .SMC; SPACE

It should just be .smc;.sfc (no SPACES)

If you are having a problem with zip files within AM, really I would just unzip, it is not as if the roms you are trying to use are large. It works out to 77 megs.

I did have trouble with zip files but that was on the PS1 but I ended up unzipping the lot of them which is a lot of HD space.

I would also not use the games db for info source, I would just download from hyperlist, unless the games db gives you better results such as better genres.

I will take a look at that at some point, but I am doing a lot of system building over the next week/s.

Hi Stormy,

You need to make sure that you have controls.ini in your additional import files, also you need to make sure of the spelling.

I do not have controls.ini in my set up, so I cannot test it for you, I might find it later on today and give it a try.

Mark
