General / Re: 4 button joystick buttun setup
« on: May 10, 2016, 10:56:36 AM »
I just mapped out my control panel & started drilling holes.
4 buttons tops.
So Neo-Geo fighters maybe.

I can't remember all those buttons for mortal kombat type fighters.. LOL!

So 4 buttons total or 4 top 4 bottom? I'm just doing my CAD work for 2 cabinets in the next week or so, finally have some time on my CNC machine to actual cut em out now. lol

Not sure if this will work for you or not, I don't use Windows for AM just my RPi3.

For linux I use the "Exit Command" in the Configure/Miscellaneous menu, Hit TAB then General scroll down to "Exit Command" .

For my setup I can use "sudo shutdown -h now"  For your setup I would try "C:\Windows\Sysytem32\shutdown.exe" See if that works.

General / Re: Hide command line text when game is launched?
« on: May 08, 2016, 03:09:22 PM »
I do know there is a way to hide the boot screen and add a different picture or even a video. I had a front end that would display a picture (thus hiding the command line) while loading the emulator. I could see that on a PC easy with attract mode. On a pi not to sure.

Yes that is exactly what Emulation Station does when I launch the game using that frontend. It's a option at the Runcommand Launch menu, #2 I have enabled. I thought it might use that with Attract Mode once configured since it's now using the Runcommand but it didn't.
I'm sure there must be a way to use it, just couldn't figure it out so thought I would ask.  :)

General / Hide command line text when game is launched?
« on: May 08, 2016, 12:43:51 PM »
When a game is launch in the new non X Attract Mode complied on RetroPie it drops to the command line for a second.
Is there anyway to hide this or display a black screen or Image (emulationstaion does the image) between launch and the game opening?
Here's a few pics of what I get, had to take it with my phone since the screenshot wont take pics out of AM.  ;)
First is Digdug second DonkeyKong.

Updated the links in the first post. Includes new video overview.

7th May 2016 - v0.4
- Kodi Installed
- Daphne Installed
- Updated some Attract Mode layouts
- Added more emulator configs

8th May 2016 - v0.4 Artwork
- As 0.4 but with MAME artwork
- Stored under the mame-libretro roms directory
- Credits to http://www.progettosnaps.net/ and omegaman on the AM forums
- Full credits and author details in the readme folder

Known Issues
- AM startup error
AL lib: (WW) alc_initconfig: Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
glGetError 0x500
glGetError 0x500
glGetError 0x500

To Do
- Auto resize image partitions
- Remove console output for clean boot
- Change scripts to not reboot when switching FE?
- Use integer scaling?
- Other Stuff

Way to go make my guide on dahone obsolete already. LOL  ;)

On your change scrpits to not reboot I have been using the "Exit Command" to boot into EmulationStation from AM and just F4 and type Attract for going back.  Would be great to have a scrpit to do that though, mind you if your going to make changes chances are you'll have your keyboard out anyway. (mines a mini wireless)

I had some of the same issues with the keyboard and double esc key presses (only single was pressed) taking me right to the command line.
Decided to compile the non X version back onto RetroPie 3.6 since 3.7 was buggy for me by itself.
Works much better now on my setup anyway.
I dont know if is a retropie 3.7 problem, because i was using the v.02 (retropie 3.7) without problems. Maybe is the SFML version. Are you using the same new SFML version ( https://github.com/mickelson/sfml-pi used in v.03) with the retropie 3.6?

I had compiled my own image before Floob did either of his V.01 or v.02 but I did test the v.02 out to see if there was anything I liked better. I had some issues witht that version as well so never used it past a test.
Yes my new image is compiled with the latest non X Attract Mode on REtropie 3.6, I run Advance MAME so it's the only solution for Attract Mode for my build.

I made multiple systems, but, my question is, can you make system choise in some kind of wheel (like robospin) to choose from?

So what your looking for is one dispaly to combine all your romlists. I asked this awhie back, was directed to the wiki.
Look at the bottom header ROMLISTS, I have not had time to figure it out so that's as much help as I can be.
Woukd be great if someone could post a quick how to with a few command lines to give a example or a short vid, but I have not found either.

I think I'll make sure that my build continue to support X and non-x so users can choose, but I'll gear it for non-x to better support RetroPie.

First, thanks for this build.

But, when i  generate ROM list, it takes a long time and it seems he scans inside the zip-files.
Is this normal? and is the list generated according the files inside the zip-files?

What emulator? What is your Rom Extension?

If anyone is interested in setting up daphne with the new v0.3 image I posted a quick tut on how to do so. Feedback on that would be great, if I need to change/add anything.  http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=750.0

Emulators / Daphne on Raspberry Pi setup and config
« on: May 04, 2016, 01:01:03 PM »
Not sure if anyone is looking for this but thought it might help someone out at some point. Hope it all makes sense.

Big thanks to Floobs for helping me get this up and running.

This is setup to run on Floobs v0.3 image as it uses the non-x version to use runcommand
Find it here in the first post  http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=705.0

Going to list all the steps to get the correct files and how to setup the directories and the cfg file used.

First part quoted from Riverstorm (RetroPie forum)

1. Download and install Daphne Loader   http://www.daphne-emu.com/site3/index_hi.php
2. Start Daphne and click "Start" on your preferred game (downloads games via torrent files)
3. After it downloads the game it will give you a list of qualifying DVD's to authenticate the game
4. Insert correct DVD and click "Ok" to authenticate
5. After it completes click "Ok' to start the game and parse the files
6. Exit the game and Daphne Loader
7. Browse to the install folder and look for the subdirectory named "vldp_dl"
8. Under "vldp_dl" look for the game you just installed (i.e. Dragon's Lair=lair; Space Ace=ace; etc.)
9. You want to copy all the files except the *.bf, *.md5, *.dat files to your Pi using SCP or another program. The directory structure is defined in the official Wiki here: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Daphne

Here is a few pics to show the directory structure a little easier to follow for newbies like me.  ;)

This is how your main daphne folder should look if you want all the artwork and intro video etc to be used by the emulator cfg file.
This allows Attract Mode and EmulationStation to run the games correctly.

The files you need to copy from your PC "vldp_dl" directory

You'll need to make sure the .txt file is correct with a there being a blank line to start. Mine had a "." on the first line that must be removed but leave the blank line. Should look like this.

And the roms just go in the roms folder as any other emulator.

The Emulator cfg file I used, it will use the artwork directories setup in the first steps.
You can just copy this to a new .cfg file in the /home/pi/.attract/emulators  directory name it "daphne.cfg"

Is it non-x or will it work in either x or non x both once compiled with new sfml?
I haven't had a chance to play with this yet.

Seems it is both, "xinit attract" loads fine.

Does anyone have the non x version running on a fresh RetroPie 3.7 build? I've tried a few times without success.

Yes but I cheated and just downloaded Floob's new image, link is in the first post V0.3 Works fantasic with Advmame loads faster than RetroPie does.
Just getting Floob to look into Daphne for me now and I'll be set.  :)

http://forum.attractmode.org/index.php?topic=705.0

2nd May 2016 - v0.3
- Recompiled AM with new SFML so X is no longer needed (https://github.com/mickelson/sfml-pi)
- This means runcommand now works under Attract Mode
- Updated configs to no longer start X
- Updated Emulators to use runcommand (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/runcommand)

Awesome downloading now. Sent you a PM had to get some work done lol I can send that file link right now if you still need it?
