Title: [CONCEPT] NEON Theme

I've come up with the idea last night of a Neon Theme and I need your feedback. Would you like me to make that kind of theme? Feel free to post any suggestions.

I REALLY like the idea of using the flyer artwork to sort through your game library :)

It's similar to the same way so many of the movie media players use the dvd/blu-ray artwork etc, here's an example of mine for instance:

An equivalent for games which also shows a video snap of the game being played would be awesome!

The top LEFT half of the screen needs some work tho to look as polished as the lower half of the screen. I'd leave the box to display the video snap where it is but on the left I'd have a large stylised text box that displayed a little info about the game, story, release date, manufacturer etc.

Thanks for your input Pooterman. As you said, Top part needs work, still unsure how I would like it to be. Will try your suggestions. Your theme looks sleek.

I could box it up like in your example, but It depends on how many people like to see the filters list to be visible, not just the active one. I have no idea where to squeeze it without breaking the symetry.

i relay like this just the way you have don it...the only thing i would include is
so that one can change to a few diff neon colors,,  because for me i would need this to be
Green neon...for sure , allows you to match different cabs themes...should  be nice..

I like the first one is more clean (without marquee and all the game info) and if you can make more colors it would be nice to use this for more systems

This theme would look nice with animated poster only i don't know if gif is supported by attractmode

yes is hard for all the games  :o  but for movies you can find some posters already made and they look very nice

looks really good!
I really like the neon frame.
...not to mention 3D coverflow :D

I would look into 2 things:

1.
double check the space reserved for the top info tiles, especially PUBLISHER that can be really lenghty (especially compared to SNK), maybe it should be a double-lenght tile

2.
Reconsider using a bit thicker font. I know that extra-thin font simply looks sexy and modern - but it may not look good (too thin) on low-res display, or even on 1080p TV from the distance.
If it's Bebas Neue font that you are using it has a wide wariety of weights and you can simply increase font weight one notch. It won't ruin the design and will look better on low-res (or smaller) screens. For the small font (description) you can try Roboto Condensed - it's similar and has better readability in small sizes.

As for the system selector - it looks empty (as it is right now).
I would leave the coverflow at the bottom and figure out what to put at the top - maybe system-related artwork?

Finally some constructive cuggestions. I really appreciate that.

1. I will rearrange that space.

2. No need to worry about the font as I have a function that selects the appropriate font weight for the current resolution. I've got the whole family of Bebas Neue. Description will have a different font, that's for sure as the my Bebas is uppercase only.

System selector: I wouldn't like to draw the glass sheet twice as I'm planning to do some transitions so the glass moves to the center when the system selector is launched. Maybe adding some system related info below the glass would make it less empty?

Hheh, I see you had the simillar idea with your design, did you finish it, or you are stuck at coding?

One more thing, The game descriptions from the history.dat seem to be very lenghty and I couldn't find any dat file with compact version that would fit into the trivia box. What would you do with that?

I'm not that great at coding - I'm a graphics designer. I can handle some light coding - but I'm so slooow at this. :)

The second version is "less empty" but the text box still looks like a filler.
Maybe it should be minimal - but you should emphasize this.

Hmmm, I forgot about the system logo :D that solves the problem, thanks. The neon at the bottom? Why not :D

I like it so far but the only thing that's bothering me and maybe it's just my ocd kicking in, but please align all the systems together in the same direction.  The snes especially seems to be going rogue and not following the rest of the wolfpack.   ;D

Looks great! I'm not sure if you are animating it or anything, but if there is a way you can make the "coverflow" its own object on a surface in a separate module, that would be an awesome plugin for  other themes :)

One day it may come out of the concept phase. Recently I commited myself to improving Attract mode. Now when we have blending modes this theme is finally possible to construct as I wanted it.
