if anyone is interested (seems years ago it was the in thing....) i got marquee on 2nd screen working in mame and attract.
mr.dos website has all the info to get it in mame. but they only work IN GAME and attract shows it in menu. so you then have it on alltimes but when you enter game it does flicker but it does work!! only took me 8 months to figure it out....
and you DONT need any special 3rd party anything. it all works and IS built in to both attract and mame.
just have to make .lay file for mame but attract uses marquee folder.

I'm interested, can you describe it more? I would like to make a marquee on the second display.

I use Raspberry 3 and LED Matrix display. I needed to write a script that would send the marquee of the selected game to the LED display.

Just a quick comment on that. It depends on your needs. The Pi has remarkable qualities for its size and little power consumption. It's ideal for classic gaming emulation as long as you don't want to play later games with 3D graphics etc., then you'd be better suited with a PC – which in turn won't fit into this (http://retroflag.com/SUPERPi-CASE-J.html) anymore. ;)

quite right. i gues my wording was pretty vaig ... classic gaming yes. but when your putting added grafix itensive stuff like multy monitors ps 1,2 games pc games, without a gpu its gonna laaaaaag really bad ,lmao like in the you tube videos of the images guys make for pie. ya it looks badass but its killing resources and what not. i mean again just my opinion. but if you want bells and whistles i myself will go pc. now for mame and maybe atari and nes ya id do pie but anything more its gonna kill the pie.
