Title: Underscan
Post by: jasper502 on February 10, 2020, 08:29:57 PM
I have Ubuntu 18 and a 4:5 Dell VGA monitor.  I have one of those plastic bezels over the monitor which cuts off a few pixels.

It seems I can’t set an underscan on the monitor or OS.

Is there an attract / mame setting for this?

What operating system are you using? What type of video connection?

Sort of but no solution posted.

As noted I am running Ubuntu 18 with an older Dell 4:5 ratio VGA monitor.  I have a more detailed question here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1207669/setting-vga-monitor-size-under-scan-issues

From what I can gather I can't set under scan with this monitor.  The monitor does not have a built-in setting for this (I know some newer ones and TVs have this).

I just realized that perhaps I should try the DVI connector - perhaps that will enable the ability to set an underscan.

I was hoping that perhaps somewhere in attract or MAME I could tweak this vs via hardware.
