Title: MAME opening multiple times

Hello:

I noticed that if I double or triple tap the return button to start a MAME rom Attract Mode will open multiple copies of MAME.

I double tapped the return button and it opened MAME and I was able to play the game fine. When I exited the game MAME opened again.

I tried this with a triple tap and the same results but this time I had to close out of MAME three times.

Is there a switch to prevent this?

are you using the most recent version (1.6)?  This was a problem earlier but should be fixed now.

I am using:

Starting Attract-Mode 1.5.2 (Linux)

I downloaded is as deb. Maybe those just aren't up to date as of yet.

Strange. I don't have that problem at all. post your mame config file please. almost sounds like am is still running in the back ground waiting to be used even when mame comes up. Do you have attract mode full screen or windowed bc?

Hi:

I am not at home in front of the test machine but to be honest I do not know. I suspect that it may be in windowed mode. I need to look up how to get it out of window mode if so. I have never changed its mode manually. It is whatever it comes with by default.

That would be TAB --> general --> window mode --> fullscreen (fullscreen..not fullscreen (default))

also are you using any type of joystick?

Hi:

At this moment no joystick. Just getting it working on my main machine and then I will copy it all over to the machine inside the cabinet and make the needed changes there.

okay I just looked and AM is in Fullscreen mode. It will definitely open multiple copies of MAME or Dragon's Lair when I press the enter key more than once to start the game.

As it was suggested perhaps the AM version of the DEB is just not up to the correct version?

No the deb is a version behind. I can't even  compile it. Nor can i get it to run. The package manager is behind (thus not my fault :P )

I run lubuntu and am1.52 and/or 1.53 I have no problems like you mention at all.

I would sugest that you delete your .attract folder and all files in your .mame/cfg folder..

better yet..rename the folders to something else first and then set it up from scratch...just the basics..and then try it.

I am sorry so is the DEB file then behind the times? I read that if it is before the current version there is the bug of being able to open multiple instances of a program.

If there is a bug in the previous versions I got lucky I guess because again I never have had that problem.
