@roverius
This may help with how the hotkeys work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBnKFRflEV4

You can either set hotkeys to require an "enable" button first, or to just work by pressing a single button/key.

@floob,
I have looked into this, but it seems that the file "hotkey.sh" is not located in the folder mentioned in the vid-tutorial.
Also, in the configure/controls menu there is only a option for "EXIT(Confirm) and "EXIT to Desktop"

The vid-tutorial was probably made from a older/previous version of retropie.

EDIT UPDATE:
OK, located the joypad config file:
file is located at:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/name-of-joypad-usb-joystick.cfg

@Roverius my v0.2 does not go into sleep mode only show collage of games although v0.4 does go to sleep blank screen
For the moment, i only use V0.2 and it seems to run stable now with the MP4 files lower then 2KB/file.
With the V0.4, i did not have blank screen, only takes much longer to load the files.

Did you also set memory split to 512CPU mem?

Maybe i test again with 0.4 and see what whappens

Like I say I have no idea if the SD card plays any roll in keeping it from crashing or not, just faster.

Those videos are very large for 240p, I would try swapping them out for a test. Try using these instead, it's what I use with no issues.
Full sets
http://www.progettosnaps.net/videosnaps/

Individual
http://www.progettosnaps.net/videosnaps/videosnaps_files.php?letter=d&layout=image

OK, downloaded the whole set. Largest file size in this set is still 34Mb.
I tested, but same issue, crash after a while.

So, i cleared out all MP4 files larger than 2Mb. Then, i added the small sized files (smaller than 2Mb) from EmuMovies to those from progetto.
Now i have over 4k MP4 files lower than 2Mb/mp4 and it seems to run stable now.

Have you set your memory split? I run a RPi3 and have not had any issues with the shutdown since the first time it happened. Things I changed were.
1. 240p MP4 videos
2. Changed memory split to 512
3. Switched to a Samsung Evo sd card from the Sandisc
Not sure the last one helped with it kicking to the terminal but it boots faster, images write faster and roms etc transfer far faster.

Change memory split to 512, testing and i report the results

AM crashed after 30 minutes screensaver.
All MP4 are 240p SQ
largest vid file is 28Mb
Average size is around 10Mb
Vids were downloaded from EmuMovies

Should i order a Samsung Evo 64Gb SD-card?, price is 22€
I use some sort of Kingston SD-card now.

A small question.

Are these builds for RPi3 based on 64bit Debian version?

It's built on Retropie 3.7 so would be 32 bit

Is there a way to upgrade/update to a 64bit version?
This might solve the problem of getting OOM errors probably.

i tried evrything i could find to disable the OOM-killer but without success.
The AM still exits after a while

in /etc/sysctl.conf
Code: [Select]
vm.oom-kill = 0
vm.overcommit_memory = 2

I have read somewhere that the 64bit version would use more low memory

Are there other user who has the same problem that AM exits after a while from screensaver mode
i use low quality vid files

Or, is it just because i use a RPi3

hav'nt tested it on the Pi2

I have reloaded Floobs 0.4 - another issue I noticed is on atari2600 is when I scroll the games list too quick, I loose all video snap on robospin beta and nevato, I need to reboot the pi to get the video snaps working again and if I scroll through the list again to quick I loose the video snaps 240 image quality, the wheel art is still there and I can play the game is this bug withing attract mode?

Same problem here, when scrolling to fast, the AM freezes.
To be honest, the best working version for me is V0.2 so far
Maybe, when the AM freezes, it could because of the use of a external HD-drive on the V0.4
It also takes longer to load.

I use a Raspberry Pi 3
@Omamez,
What Pi do you have?
And what power supply? (at least 2 amps is needed)
For external drive, i suggest you use a powered drive and not a drive that is powered over USB.

Ok, escape key never work for me to exit in libretro emulators but I have two keys to do that. One of then is hotkey. It's used to do special actions: Menu GUI of Retroarch, Exit emulator, Save State, etc.

Add this two lines in your retroarch.cfg to add Exit Emulator using HotKey. Then, your can change it:

input_exit_emulator = "num1"
input_enable_hotkey = "num2"

With this two lines, if you pulse 1 and 2 twice, you exit from emulator. Try it!

I inputted those 2 lines, somehow it exited, but it exited to the command prompt.
Also, when i scroll true the games list, AM freezes.

I going to try withe the differnt MAME emulators and see what happens.

Thx anyway for the reply and i keep it updated.

Hello,

i like to repeat my question.

Is there any advice on how to exit the mame game.
Pressing Escape doesn't seem to work

(Floob V0.4 on Rpi3)

Thx

What mame? Libretro? Mame4all?

is use the Libretro

Perfect... it's a problem of your retroarch.cfg file.

Could you post here?

/opt/retropie/configs/[mame-version]/retroarch.cfg

or if you are using ALL version...

/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

Here is the libretro config file

Code: [Select]
video_shader = /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader/crt-pi.glslp
video_shader_enable = true

aspect_ratio_index = "20"

# Settings made here will only override settings in the global retroarch.cfg if placed above the #include line

input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/"

#include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

Ok, your are using ALL configuration... so... post this one, please: /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

I noticed that the line to use the "all" config is hypened out a # in front of this line.

I attacth the "ALL" config file

I'm getting corruption and blank screen even after reboot  I get retropie splash still no am just black screen

has happened 3 times today

32 Scandisk class 10 micro for os and usb hdd for rom/art/vids using 0.4 flobs

Do you have this black screen after a fresh install on the flash card?

It is possible when you have added your HDD that it scans the drive for consistency.
This might take a while and you can see the activity led (if there is a led on the drive) is blinking.
